“Mariandre” is an old country house in stonework which has recently been completely renovated. The natural terrace on which it is situated, is a beautiful and peaceful oasis 670 m. above sea level, with a unique view of the fascinating town of Gubbio. Although it is only 6 km from one of the most visited and admired medieval towns of Italy, the hill around the house has an uncontaminated environment, ideal for trekking and excursions on mountain-bikes and horse riding.

We stayed here 6 nights in september and very much enjoyed our stay. Do not expect a luxury hotel, the appartement had a bit old fashioned furniture, was in need of some updating and the bed was rather high and soft, but there was enough room and we were glad we had a terrace with a lovely view. The Casale is in a beautiful spot on top of a hill with a wonderful view of Gubbio in the distance. It is about 5 km from Gubbio and it is an easy drive to the city. There is a nice pool with enough sun beds. The whole atmosphere here is relaxed and that is mainly due to the very friendly owners Marika and Andrea. They love their dogs, and even though we have no dogs ourselves they did not bother us at all. They are well behaved and friendly. Marika and Andrea do everything to make your stay pleasant, their English is sufficient to communicate. Marika makes a lovely breakfast and when she discovered we were not so fond of only sweet things she also made tasty bites for us each morning. At night she cooks if you want to stay for dinner and she does that very well. She tries to please everyone and the small restaurant has a nice homely atmosphere. We think back of our six days with pleasure. Grazie Marika and Andrea!!

Two days at Casale Mariandre were a pure pleasure: relatively easy to find, the country house is pleasantly located in the Umbrian countryside close to picturesque Gubbio. Long relaxing walks in the area on paths along the fields and in the forests can start a few steps from the house - which overlooks the valley. The rooms/apartments are spacious and impeccably clean; the bedroom in our location ("Gubbio") was slightly overwhelming due to a huge antique carved wood headpiece and matching bed stands and mirror; you could certainly feel the history of the place. Andrea and Marika are great hosts and very obviously passionate about what they are doing: very friendly, always ready to chat and inform about the area, eager to make one's stay comfortable. Marika is an outstanding cook ad baker: her 'creations' for dinner were inventive, creative, exceptionally tasty; the variation of cakes and pastry for breakfast is definitely very special. For someone appreciating good bread and marmalade/honey for breakfast, the sweet variant (Italian though) needs a bit of getting used to but is compensated for by the excellent quality of the served pastry. Parking is super secure behind a locked iron port. Excursions to nearby Gubbio and other destinations are easy and accessible without problems. A truly recommendable place if you seek peace, quiet, beautiful landscape and caring hosts.

The owners Andre and Marika share their beautiful estate and provide everything you need to enjoy your holiday. I enjoyed reading by the fire and my husband was practicing his Italian, thank you both for entertaining him. For those looking for great food Marika is an excellent chef. I have been traveling to Italy for any years and this was one of the best meals I have enjoyed. Will be back again.
