#17 of 97 Speciality lodging in Gubbio
Welcome to S.Vittorino Farmhouse. San Vittorino is a castle (historically known as "Castrum S.Victorini" dating back to 1163) thoroughly restored in keeping with the surrounding territory. Today it also serves as the residence of the owners of the property. The San Vittorino Farmhouse Inn in Gubbio is open throughout the year. No detail was overlooked when furnishing the apartments and the rooms, offering our clients the highest level of hospitality for a romantic stay.At the farmhouse inn guests can enjoy the characteristic dishes of Umbria and Gubbio in the Restaurant along with the organic produce grown on the farm. The farmhouse inn is located in one of the most scenic areas of the Gubbio countryside, offering amazing views of the city of Gubbio, spanning over a territory of 32 hectares, characterised by forests of oaks, pines and olive groves. The San Vittorino farmhouse inn and relais is located just 5 km from the historic town centre, in a strategic location for enjoying your holiday in Umbria and for visiting the medieval city of Gubbio, famous for the "Festa dei Ceri" festival, "Gubbio No Borders - Italian Jazz Festival" and its beautiful natural treasures including the Monte Cucco park..

It was our third time here at San Vittorino Castle. It's a very peaceful place! Only three very nice apartments each one with its private garden. Beautiful equipped swimming pool surrounded by olive trees. You may have nice walks in the woods of the estate. You may reach Gubbio, Assisi and Montefalco within few time by car. Anna, Camilla and Alfredo are wonderful hosts. At dinner you may taste food wisely cooked by Alfredo and Camilla, excellent chef, served in the castle rooms. Remember here is truffles' homeland! Here you may find kindness, hospitality wonderful food and a beautiful place surrounded by nature

The apartments are really big and comfortable The castle and grounds are beautiful Evening meal was not available, and the nearest restaurants are quite far The owners started noise cutting of the trees around 8 a.m. For us ok, we are early birds, but can be not good for the other guests. And also they asked us in the morning to repark car because of the works, but they could tell this in the evening , when we asked where to park. Breakfast not rich , italian style (sweet)

We ended up here purely by chance after deciding not to flog back to Rome one evening. The gods must have been smiling because it was a real gem. The owners could not have been more welcoming and settled us into a spotless, well-designed little gite - 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, cozy sitting room and kitchenette. They asked us did we like truffles (YES!) and was there anything we didn't eat (not much!) and agreed dinner at 8pm. The dining area covers several small rooms in the main towered building. The dining room is only open to residents so it makes sense that there is a set menu. There was one other couple staying and the tables were thoughtfully laid up in different areas so it was very private. The food was some of the best I've had in Italy - a really delicious leek and cheese dish to start, then a simple but sublime homemade pasta with truffles then a deftly sauced (and sourced!), very tender steak. OH managed a dolce as well and a local digestif whilst I finished the wine (having decided on red we were offered a choice from 3 bottles). I don't know what it might be like in high season but for a September week-end it was a wonderful find. We shall be back.

What a lovely place. We only stayed one night as we were due somewhere else the next, but what a night! Super welcoming hosts who were in the middle of cooking our (and 20 partying teachers') sumptious when we turned up at very short notice. Had a lovely and very spacious appartment with two bedrooms, superb bathroom and kitchen and dining area. All done with great taste and with quality materials. Outside we had a great private terrasse with dining table and chairs in addition to a larger terrasse with shade and stunning views over the surrounding agricultural countryside. The dinner was comparable to a luxury restaurant in addition to a private dining room with large fireplace and historical decorations. Similarly we had a superb breakfast with cooked omelet and whatever else we desired. In the morning I walked around on the farmland, olive groves, grain fields, forests with truffles and mushrooms and lovely vistas all around. We will definitely be back net time we are in the area.
