We spent three nights in this lovely place in the countryside of Umbria, everything was perfect the room, food, wine, service. Marilisa and Riccardo are unrivalled. Great artists of the art of hospitality ... seems to be guests of old friends, the environment is very comfortable and at the same time very warm. To anyone in mind to spend time...

Surrounded by the rolling mountains/hills of Umbria it is well worth the drive out of town to get here. A perfect place to unwind and relax for a couple of days, we were there in autumn, the colours were amazing. Everything was absolutely first class - the rooms, the food, the wine and the service. Tremendous value for money.

We spent 4 nights at the Borgo. This was our second trip to Italy. We stayed in hotels on our first trip, so this time we wanted to get back in touch with the Italian countryside. We had read so many wonderful reviews about the Borgo that we knew that we just had to stay there. Marilisa and Ricardo (the...

Itlay, the land of Soap Opera and Cappuccino is well known for its warm hospiatlity and great food in spectacular surroundings. When it comes to hotels though, the approach is rather classic; small, rustic rooms are still what can be expected even in the 5 star market. What a breath of fresh air in contrast is Il Borgo di Carpiano!!...

We stayed two nights at Borgo di Carpiano last week on our way from Venice to Rome and, without a doubt, it was the highlight of our trip. Everything was perfect! Marilisa was always responsive to my emails prior to our visit and, along with her husband Ricardo, they were great hosts while we were there. The accommodations were unique...

Stayed here for 7 nights. A beautifully restored complex with a chapel converted into a serene living room/library and apertif room. Our room (# 6)had a sitting room, master bedroom and wonderful modern bath But the real highlight were owners Ricardo and Marilisa and their warm efficient staff. By the time we left we felt like family. Did we mention...

What a memorable experience! This was the first time my husband and I had stayed in an agriturismo and I think we might be ruined now because Borgo di Carpiano would be extremely tough to top. Marilisa, Ricardo and their staff provided such warm and friendly service. Our room was spacious and so many details had been thought through (including...

This is just the kind of place you just don't want to leave and want to return to again and again - because of the perfect atmosphere of this agritourismo small hotel. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The ancient castle of Carpiano is among the hidden treasures of beautiful Umbria. This small hamlet is located at only 12 Km from the medieval town of Gubbio and 22 km from Perugia. In this pleasant place simplicity, elegance and warmth of genuine hospitality are ideally combined. The Borgo is surrounded by secular olive trees and lush woods in a pristine valley crossed by the Ventia stream. The three stone buildings that comprise it are perched on a spur of rock that ends with an infinity pool of salt water overlooking the valley. In the main building, the old church has been restored keeping the original frescoes and has been now converted into library and conversation room hosting classical music concerts and events. During the winter months meals are served in the large dining room in front of the warmth of the old fireplace while in the summer are served in the small square with breathtaking view over the valley.Home made bread, cakes and biscuits, vegetables from the vegetable garden and a search of quality ingredients, all strictly "seasoned with our own olive oil" ....The Borgo has only eight rooms all renovated respecting the original architecture and materials of the time. Get lost in the woods, plan to do very little, get accustomed to the silence are recommended activities!Borgo di Carpiano is also an ideal setting for an exclusive place to celebrate with your friends a special occasion. In house wine, cheese and olive oil tasting, cooking classes, therapeutic treatments and relaxing massages can be arranged. Horse riding, golf, rafting can be found in the nearby surroundings. The Borgo is in a strategic position to visit all the major Umbrian towns. ... more   less
