My wife and I stayed here last fall for 3 nights. Letizia is a wonderful host with the highlight taking the cooking class she taught. She had great recommendations for restaurants in the area. Umbria is a beautiful region and Assisi a very quaint and charming town nearby... We would definitely come back.

Alla Madonna del Piatto is a short drive outside of Assisi itself, so it's important that you have a car to get to Assisi and other nearby areas. The B&B is very clean, charming, nicely decorated, and comfortable....outside is a patio that overlooks Assisi, from which you can enjoy your home made breakfast made by the owner/chef Letizia...or lounge around...

Letizia and her partner have given this green bower of a place up in the hills behind Assisi (a protected area) a very special ambience. It's full of Moroccan artefacts, has a shaded pergola for sunny days and a high terrazza with a stupendous view over to Assisi for any time or weather, and is a completely renovated old Umbrian...

Letizia started the class in a speciality shop in downtown Assisi. There she explained the different olive oil grades, balsamic vinegars, cheeses, and italian meats. Here is where everyone in the class got to know each other. Letizia speaks excellent English and keeps her cooking class interesting with good information and humor. My wife and I thought this was a...

While on a trip to Umbria, my husband and I decided to take a day off from sightseeing and spend it taking a cooking class. It's truly one of the best classes we've ever taken. The reason being that not only was the instruction well done by Letizia and the food she helped us prepare delicious, the recipes were ones...

This is a wonderful find. It is located up the mountain from Assisi. The building is charming and convenient. The view from the terrace looks like a postcard photograph. Letizia and Ruurd have created a B&B that is the perfect combination of beautiful, quiet, and interesting. I recommend Letizia's cooking class which begins with a trip down to the village...

This was our favorite place we stayed in Italy. The location is on top of a small mountain next to the one that Assisi is on, and thus this B&B affords stunning views of the surrounding area. The road is a little challenging up to the top, but well worth the effort! We loved getting up in the morning and...

My friends and I did the cooking class. Needless to say, I am writting this review a full year afterwards, so that should tell you the quality of the experiance. The drive up the mountain does take a little time after meeting at a shop in town, but it was well worth it. We even had fun looking for cookie...

We thoughoughly enjoyed our time at Alla Madonna. It's so peaceful and overlooks Assisi and the surrounding hills. Letizia is both kinowledge of Umbria and helpful with recommendation. Take her cooking class for a true "hands-on" experience.

Beautifully restored many centuries old farm house spectacularly located high on a hillside with a beautiful view of Assisi in the distance. The terrace is a wonderful place for a glass of wine, taking some sun or just relaxing, all with views of the surrounding countryside including a sheepherder with five dogs rounding up their charges, misty mornings in the...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Our home, a renovated farmhouse, is a small eco-friendly B&B near Assisi, in Umbria. The centuries-old stone house overlooks the beautiful town of Assisi. All rooms have a magnificent view of Assisi's world famous basilica, dedicated to St. Francis and housing some of Italy's most important art treasures. Our agriturismo is a quiet oasis both day and night, an ideal spot to unwind. You will awake every morning to the sights of the rolling Umbrian hills and the medieval town of Assisi perched on the Subasio mountain. You can linger for hours watching the sheep graze in the fields, sunbathe on the terracotta-paved terrace or sip a glass of wine under the grapevine arbor. If, on the other hand, you can tear yourself away from the garden and its panorama, our bed and breakfast is conveniently located to explore Umbria's beautiful medieval hill towns. Assisi, Gubbio, Todi, Orvieto, Spoleto and Perugia, as well as Tuscany's splendid Renaissance city Siena, Cortona and the Chianti wine region are all within about an hour's drive. If you enjoy walking, the Subasio natural park and the Franciscan Path of Peace and woodllands are only minutes away. ... more   less
