The location was easy to find with GPS; we made sure to arrive during daylight. We received a warm welcome from Marta who showed us around before we settled in for the night. The Rose room had a balcony from where we enjoyed unforgettable sunsets. The mornings I was pleasantly awakened by sounds of nature and sweet aromas filled the air where Daniela and Luigi prepare the perfect breakfast. If you're looking for a safe, quiet, and accessible place in Assisi, this is the place to stay. Daniela will make sure you have what you need and more.
The house is located about 6km outside of Sanza and is easily accessible via a paved road. Parking is not a problem. It is beautifully situated in the countryside with a large garden and shady areas around the house to stay. On the large covered terrace and in the air-conditioned restaurant, the food can be served. We were nine people and have booked 4 nights. The rooms have double beds and also extra beds. The breakfast was rich.
The owners of this agriturismo are a wonderful couple: very hospitable and welcoming. We ate there for breakfast and dinner. The food was so fresh and delicious: homemade pasta, tender pork and turkey, and homemade desserts. They make their own Sangiovese and it paired wonderfully with the meal. The location has perfect access to the town of Assisi. Highly recommend it!
This place is better than average and would be excellent except that it has no view and the cuisine was ok but not very memorable, though wine was good. The pluses are the very attentive and friendly owners, the breakfasts, pool and the clean & comfortable rooms with aircon option. Overall the price is reasonable. Close access by car to Assisi, Spello, Rivotorto, Collepino, Bavegna and Santa Maria d'Angeli.
Daniela helped me book 6 rooms for some of my wedding guests that came in from abroad. I really wanted all of them to have a very typical Umbrian experience, with the rustic interior, beautiful views off of a residential road, and home style cooking...even the cute little donkey in the back! Daniela and Luigi were wonderful with all my guests and treated them like family. We had a dinner welcoming those who arrived and were staying there and the food was delicious from the antipasti to the homemade wine. They made sure everyone had what they needed and no guest was left disappointed. The next time I am in Umbria I will stop by Il Giardino dei Ciliegi to say hello and give a big hug to the owners, take in the beautiful scenery and enjoy the memories of our joyous wedding preparations and how they made everyone feel at home. Thank you Daniela and Luigi for all your wonderful efforts, the experience was amazing!…
Its always difficult to write a review like this and especially when it appears I'm swimming against the tide. Please understand that I write this as a foodie. Quality food , well cooked and well presented is essential to me. The couple who run this agriturismo are very good hosts, attentive , present and well meaning. They do an excellent job, however the food is simply not up to par. This is simply my opinion and my experience. I had dinner here which was simply inedible. The first dish was pasta which tasted store bought and has a terrible cream and possibly pork sauce. The next dish was chicken with cheese and stuffed tomatoes. I barely touched it. Dessert was a choice of cake or fresh fruit. I had the fruit which was probably fresh but tasted canned. Bread was poor. I had one bite. The house wine, which surprisingly for a agroturismo came in a corked bottle was quiet good. Howeeven that and the water cost another 15€, very expensive for the quality. Breakfast was not good. I was asked what I wanted and was offered eggs which I choose. No choice of how they might be cooked was offered. They came scrambled. I like to see the yolk. The ham looked canned. I passed and the cheese was unexceptional. Coffee was good and the home made cakes were of a good standard. I can recommend the sacher torte but not the sponge cake. I write for my fellow travelers and take no pleasure when I write a negative review. If food is unimportant ( and I heard an American family express their pleasure) then you'll enjoy this agriturismo.…
Our hosts, Luigi and Daniela were warm and welcoming and helped direct us to attractions nearby in Assisi, and some very good restaurants close by. My husband's special dietary needs were easily accomodated, and we were treated with fresh products from their farm. This is also a working winery and their wine was excellent, bringing us to decide to buy some. The room was clean, large, brightly painted, and well furnished. The bathroom met all our needs and we enjoyed the private balcony that allowed to us to sit and sip our wine with the birds chirping in the trees. Very relaxing. The bed was a little too firm for me, but then, that was my complaint all over Italy - firm beds - I got over it. If you go, please go and say hi to Italo, the mule, he loves the company, specially the children.…
