Have just returned from my 2nd visit to Casa Carbonaia, first time was with friends this time i took the family. They loved it as I hoped they would. The accommodation is great, clean, comfortable and ideal for us with loads of outside space to eat. There is a large well maintained outdoor pool with the most amazing view. Simone and his family are fabulous hosts, very kind and helpful - he got the pizzeria to stay open until midnight so that we could get something to eat after a long delay at the airport, which was greatly appreciated by our two hungry children. The location of Casa Carbonaia is stunning and you do feel like you are looking onto a large painting of Tuscany. Having taken part in activities last time and enjoyed it we took the children canyoning and horse riding which they loved. It was a hit with me first time and its been a definite hit with my family who are already talking about when we can go back.

We visited this venue with Activities Abroad. The setting was really beautiful on the side of the hills looking down into the valley. There are seven apartments and we lived very closely with the other families there which worked really well. Each apartment had an outdoor table where we ate meals. Our hosts Simone and Donatella worked really really hard to ensure that we had a good time and we did rock climbing, caving, canyoning, a bike ride, wine tasting and pizza making with varying degrees of success. The swimming pool was a very pleasant place and never overcrowded even when most of us were there at the same time. A thoroughly good holiday with the right mix of activities and leisure in a lovely location.

The location of this place is AMAZING - with fantastic views. The host, Simone, is brilliant. So calm and helpful. There are 7 apartments within this beautiful old building. We stayed in the Scalette apartment which had lovely vaulted ceilings. We did some of the activities with Simone of which canyoning was a total highlight. A real must do for anyone visiting. The shared pool is big with lots of sun loungers around it. The pool is also deep enough for diving which our kids loved. The other guests were from UK, NL and France. Most were families with teenage kids. Many had been back to Casa Carbonaia many times. I can see why. I imagine we could go back at some point. I hope so.

Room Tip: We loved Scalette. It was at the far corner away from the pizza oven where most people hung out...

I was one of 10 female friends who stayed at Casa Carbonaia this summer. It is very clean and spacious and brilliant for a big group as it had lots of rooms which can interconnect to lots of different combinations of accommodation. This place is in a stunning setting. It's traditional accommodation but with everything you need and we didn't want to cook because the villages around have lovely restaurants. We ate out mainly although there is a big outdoor BBQ area in the gardens with lovely seating area to look at the stunning views of the mountains. Just beautiful scenery every direction you look! No hotels and no tourists - it's spectacular. No-one would ever feel overlooked here; every person or any group can be as far away as they like from another person or group because the grounds are so huge and they lead on to olive groves (and you can buy fresh olive oil to take home..). There's a lovely outdoor swimming pool with diving area too. An amazing experience - one of the best ever! This is a professional family run business and this makes it more personal and special and Simone is the perfect host. He took us canyoning, coasteering and climbing the via ferrata this summer and I can't recommend the activities highly enough... Simone was a brilliant organiser, teacher, guardian and good company. I have never been to this area and it was stunningly beautiful, peaceful and I didn't want to leave. I will definitely go again. My husband and son would also love it. There is a lot of equipment available to hire on site, like mountain bikes to explore the local area. No-one could ever be bored but if you want to chill and read a book it is silent so you can choose... Also the cost of the accommodation and cost of the activities are totally fairly priced so I can't recommend it highly enough for any group of people, families, friends, couples - everyone would enjoy their stay here. Florence is nearby and the tiny village of Vinci has lovely restaurants and we didn't have time to see the Leonardo da Vinci Museum! And fantastic ice-cream parlours... And such lovely, friendly people.. I have to go back soon!
