Beautiful places. Nice pension. Very friendly hosts, but the cleanliness was a bit desirable. I spent three days in the area. I visited Pisa, Florence, San Giminiano, Vinci. The beauty of the place and the kindness of the hosts compensated for the lack of cleanliness. It is true that the entrance to our bedroom was made directly from outside and the door was wide open as we were there.

Great hospitality of Donatella the owner. Big smile and care towards the kids and just giving you the feeling you got home. The place is well kept and very comfortable. Very much suitable as a nice base for trips to Firenze or Pisa as well as the little places around. Should and would return.

Dear Donatella, We arrived very late in the evening after a long flight and car drive. You greeted us with a big smile. You cooked a wonderful dinner for us at 2300, even catering for our fussy eater child. Your Vino Rosso is amazing incidentally! Our room was country style, clean, large and comfortable. The bed was rather squeaky, but we improvised with a fix. We slept like babies in the quiet Tuscan countryside. The breakfast could have been better, having some fresh fruit and vegetables. You did provide us with some beautiful tomatoes and olive oil, but we had to ask. We are in the middle of the countryside, how better to sample the local produce? However Donatella, this was the only (small) downside of our wonderful stay with you. Many thanks for making our first Tuscan experience so amazing. Your smiling face and warm greetings always made us feel welcome each time we returned 'home'.

We spent 4 nights here. It's definitely in the countryside, about 2 km from Vinci. If you're looking for a modern hotel with all the bells and whistles, this is not your place. But if you're looking for rural hospitality and to really see and experience Tuscan countryside, it's fantastic. Donatella is a wonderful hostess, seemingly always available, ready to answer questions and provide assistance. English speakers will have a bit of a language barrier; download Google Translator to assist (both wireless and cell coverage are strong). She gave us a steer to a fantastic restaurant in Vinci our first night (il Ristoro al Museo), and she provided a wonderful homemade dinner the second night; there is a cost to it but it's very reasonable considering the quality. The B&B also has a shared kitchen area; you can buy food/beverage at the D.H.M ("Penny Market"), which you'll see on the right outside Empoli enroute the B&B, if you want a simple, quiet meal one evening. From the B&B we visited Firenze 2 days and Pisa a third. You need to have a car here--there's just no easy way to walk to public transportation. We ended up renting a car in Empoli (Empoli Rents). If you don't want to drive around Firenze (which we didn't), just drive 20 minutes from Le Mimose to Empoli, park the car, and take the train to Firenze, or Pisa, or any number of places served by Italy's excellent train system. Three key websites to assist with the train system: 1) trenitalia.com (to view schedules and get tickets); 2) viaggiatreno.it (real-time train tracking); 3) easytravelreport.com (news on Italian train strikes, which are not uncommon). Le Mimose has a pool, which was enjoyable with a glass of vino bianco after a hot day of touring Pisa. They make their own wine and marmalade, both of which are delicious; we bought a bunch of wine from Donatella for 3.50 Euro per bottle, incredibly inexpensive for the quality! I agree with another reviewer that there is unrealized potential at Le Mimose, but we would unquestionably stay again when visiting the Firenze area.
