We stayed here for one night during our 10-day Italy trip. The hotel is wonderful. It is so comfortable. My husband and I loved sitting in the common rooms on the main floor which are exquisitely decorated. The staff could not do enough to make us feel welcome. Every need was met. We had dinner there and it was delicious....

The rooms are small and expensive, the internet only works in the small lounge. You have to use the stairs no elevator available and we were on the top floor. The staff was polite but clearly there to only do their job and they don't accommodate requests. There isn't a view from the pool or lounge even though they said...

Dear Guest, I do not think you've ever stayed with us. You say "the internet only works in the small lounge". What do you mean with "small lounge" the 800 square meters of common areas available for our Guests and with free wi-fi access ?! "There isn't a view from the pool or lounge even though they said there was".Sorry...

A beautiful cloister turned into a hotel a little outside Siena (5 mn drive), incredible garden, superbe service. It was just a 2 nights stop with the children but we could easily have spend a week. LOVED it. Probably my favorite place to stay in Italy this year !

Only had one night to stay in Siena and chose this beautiful old monastery. The staff was wonderful and the grounds were beautiful. Bed could have been a little softer but I couldn't have asked for much more. Great little spot. Wish we had more time.

The hushed elegance of a 14th century monastery was somewhat jarred when our little family with a rambunctious 2 year old, and Daddy clad in shorts and Rod Lavers arrived on Palio weekend. What a welcome. Benjamin and every member of the staff seemed to be focussed on hospitality and our comfort. Despite it being, perhaps, the craziest few days...

This hotel is a real gem. Treated like Royalty from the moment we stepped through the entrance into the stunning courtyard and experience that happened every time we arrived. Taxi to centre of Siena can be arranged promptly and without fuss costs between 8-10 € per trip. (Not walkable in summer if you want to arrive in Siena fresh) This...

We had a great time staying here, but I'll admit that it took us a day to fully appreciate the Certosa di Maggiano. First the good: wow, what a beautiful property! Staying at a converted monastery was so awesome, and it was nice to be away from the bustle of Siena after a day of sight seeing. Loved the pool...

This is the third time that I have stayed at The Certosa. I like the hotel because of its location minutes away from the gates of Sienna. It gives you a Tuscan country feel while being minutes away from the sights and sound of one of Tuccanys great cities. That said I have a few issues. I raised the issue of...

Dear Sir, thank you for the time you dedicated to write your review. You say "the management will rebut what I have to say" but....why ? There is no reason to rebut if the complain is constructive. Unfortunately for me is impossible to understand who you are. We never had only 5 rooms occupied in the month of June. Your...

our trip to Tuscany didn't get off to the best start. We missed our Ryanair flight so had to fly the following day at an extortionate price. Added to this, car rental company once informed we would be arriving a day later, said they considered it a "no show" and cancelled the car altogether. Thus far we have not had...

Disappointed from Certosa Di Maggiano, although my expectations were high. A truly wonderful old monastery with beautiful dining rooms. However, it gives the impression of being literally abandoned. Rooms with heavy and old furniture, prove some past glory, but these days are clearly over. Expensive at the same time. Definitely needs and DESERVES a good fresh touch. Change management for...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
In Tuscany, 1 Km from Siena immersed in an uncontaminated countryside you find a XIV century Carthusian monastery, La Certosa di Maggiano turned into a Relais et Chateaux Hotel in 1978. An enchanting place, a light and natural luxury masterfully interpreted by the famous architect and interior designer, Renzo Mongiardino. A clear architecture with interiors rich in history dressed with impalpable silks and ornamental paintings & skillfully integrated within the natural and cultural environment. In line with this life born for silence and prayer, la Certosa di Maggiano offers today a set of services and activities aimed to improve your overall state of physical and spiritual wellness. A state of mind so well interpreted by the restaurant "Il Canto" and its Chef Paolo Lopriore, whose cuisine is another multi-sensorial journey which perfectly match our quest for life style, beauty & nature. ... more   less
