We stayed at Il Vicario the end of May 2021 for 9 nights with our 2.5 year old son. We did delta COVID free flight from NYC. Fulvio and Katia the proprietors made us feel very welcome as usual. It was our third time at Il Vicario and we felt very safe during these times. Everyone wore a mask in the hill towns, even outside and it was lovely having very few tour buses and traffic. The weather was lovely, with dining al fresco a special treat (only outdoor dining during Covid). If you have kids, they are most welcomed here. Crib, high chair, changing pad and toys are all available. Dinner is made special for the kiddos (simpler courses served earlier). We are most of our dinners at Il Vicario which were 4 courses of delicious local food from Fulvio’s garden. If you are looking for the true tuscan experience look no further!

II Vicario, what a fantastic experience we had this summer 2020. As soon as you arrive you just feel welcome and relax. There is definitely something unique about this place , a good energy. Katia and her uncle Fulvio are very friendly and down to earth people offering a fantastic hospitality. We have stayed two nights with our dog and enjoyed the food as well as Tuscan walks. To extend the Italian authenticity we decided to try the cooking class which turned out a very positive experience. I surprised myself thinking how simple things like cooking and conversing with people over a nice glass of wine can make you feel connected. Katia offers a great knowledge of the ingredients and generally the history of the area as well as the passion for their olive oil. It was interesting to taste and compare their own produce of olive oil where the quality shows straight away the moment you taste it. If you are looking for a nice place with a friendly atmosphere and good food/wine this is the place to go. I echo the other guests who say they will be back soon!

Beautifully situated in the heart of Tuscany, this rustic old villa is the place to stay when you visit Tuscany. Florence, Sienna, Pisa, San Gimignano, Volterra and others are all within an easy ride away. Even Cinque Terre is an hour and a half away. Il Vicario was our center for us to explore Tuscany. We spent 5 beautiful days and nights there and wished we had more. The villa is situated 4 kms from San Gimignano in an awesome setting. The views, the peacefulness, the aroma of nature were all incredible. Coupled with the friendliness, hospitality and amazing cooking of the owner, Fulvio, and his niece Katia, we had the best we could have expected. Very clean and tastefully decorated rooms, beautifully arranged dining areas and well manicured grounds, provided the perfect ambiance for rest and relaxation. A very sumptuous continental bkfst was offered every morning and upon request you could enjoy a 3 course dinner, each course paired with a glass of wine, for only 25 Euros per person. The dinner, prepared by Fulvio, and accredited chef, and his niece Katia, was delicious. It was also convenient, as you wrapped-up the day and you dined in the villa, with wine, with your room only steps away. We took full advantage of this feature and we had no regrets(highly recommended). We loved the place and enjoyed our stay there. We are planning to go back soon.

What a warm, welcoming, truly authentic Tuscany place to stay (AND EAT)!!! Katia and her uncle, Fulvia, are two of the nicest people you'll ever meet. They are there to greet you each morning and to say good night in the evening. And don't pass up the opportunity to dine with with them. Our first night there, we joined 5 others for dinner. The meal was fabulous and their wine was excellent (and free flowing). That meal, along with the cooking class Katia gave us the next day, are among the most memorable in our 20 days in Italy and Greece. Our only suggestion is that they, and almost all other B&Bs in Italy, add an inch or two of memory foam to their mattresses---they are a little firm.

This was one of our favorite experiences while in Florence. My husband and I were fortunate to have Katia all to our selves for and amazing cooking class. She was not only extremely knowledgable about the food and ingredients but also the history of the area. She a also makes the best olive oil! The B&B is priceless, rooms were sweet and we really felt at home. San Gimignano is right down the street and fabulous.Renting a car is really the best option to get to Il Vicario. The drive from Florence is gorgeous. We will be back!!
