This was one of the more expensive places on our road trip through Italy. We stayed one night in a room with a terrace Positives - quiet just outside town with views of San Gimignano - we had paid extra for a room with a terrace. Balcony was very large with nice views - big rooms - nice big bathroom - good breakfast - great pool area I would stay again
We had a beautiful 5 nights with our family at this lovely location. The staff (especially mr. stefano) made our stay memorable. He gave us great recommendations of places to visit and eat in the area. San giminiano is a perfect location to visit the rich medieval towns of Certaldo, Volterra and Siena. We also took nice walks in woods, vineyards and olive groves all part of the via francigena! Food at the hotel was good but a bit overpriced at the poolside for simple dishes. Great wine selection and excellent service even if understaffed during this period. We highly recommend la collegiata for your tuscan vacation.
Coming from Australia it's a buzz to stay in a hotel that's over 400 years old. The buildings and grounds are beautiful and its a nice reprieve from the busyness of the Tuscan hilltop towns in the crazy summer months. I found the staff very helpful and friendly. Location wise its a decent walk into town but I found most visitors had cars so not so much of a problem. Perhaps a complimentary taxi service once in the morning and once in the afternoon would be a nice touch for guests so they don't have to navigate parking (or can have a wine or two at lunch). I enjoyed the breakfast and the selections were plentiful. We ate dinner in the restaurant and enjoyed that too. I look forward to my return.
Beautiful building and gardens. Our rooms were lovely and bathrooms large and well appointed. The shower pressure in both our rooms ran hot then cold, very inconsistent. The wifi was bad. The breakfast was average with an extra 7 euro charge for eggs which was a bit surprising given the room rate. Arrived for breakfast at 8 am on our day of departure to interrupt two staff sitting in the garden area next to the breakfast area having a cigarette . Unprofessional. Overall, the building is lovely but the problems above diminished the experience.
abulous place to stay just outside San Gimignano. We stayed here in late August and throughly enjoyed our stay. The grounds are immaculate and the facility is very well kept. The bedding is all the better for jet lagged travelers but not before a dip in the infinity edge pool. The view slightly NW of the old town was great with vineyards and olive groves everywhere. The staff was superb and the breakfast (included) was amazing. English speaking and very helpful and friendly. Urban Cowgill August 2019
