Well kept premises, very clean, sun beds quite new and clean. Staff mostly friendly - take away the one snotty young boy-employee who has the attitude ”you-should-be-exhilarated-that-I’m talking to you” and is too lazy to get up and open your sun-lounger and parasol. The pool is 25 meters and they have a lane for lap swimming. Bathing cap mandatory. You can buy one for 3 Euro. The sun loungers and parasol are of cheap quality. You can’t put the sun lounger all the way down. With a little wind the parasol is unstable. One employee came and took it away - whilst me still laying there. There is a restaurant but I did not eat there. They were not very Covid 19 aware. Employee wore mask but the sun lounger were way to close. Sun longer and Parasol 18 Euros for a whole day.
Booked a room for 5 nights as a base whilst our son swam in an open water competition and I was a little apprehensive due to the mixed reviews. As it turned out, this was a lovely place to stay and perfect for our needs. Whilst a very small resort, it had a fantastic gym & 25m swimming pool and we had no problem in getting a sun bed. Rooms were individually styled but immaculately clean and had a stunning view from the large balcony. We ate out but returned for evening drinks & whilst more expensive than in the town (Piombino was incredibly inexpensive) prices were still reasonable by UK standards. The resort is about a 10 minute walk from the harbour in what appeared to be a residential area. Piombino and its people were lovely ensuring a very lovely break. I accept that the resort is not for everyone but unusually for us, we are considering returning & I can't say more than that. …
Very friendly staff and nice little rooms with a view onto the sea. Service is rather slow and the food/beverage is really expensive - not really worth it. But for only one night with breakfast ok. Nice stay if you travel on to elba.
This is a tiny resort located on an elevated area on the Sea...beautiful view all new and beautifully located! Rooms are tastefully decorated and very clean. The resturant was great and can serve many more people than those staying at the resort. We ran into the friendly owner several times. We did not speak Italian and staff spoke limited English but they went out of there way to make everything perfect ..we felt very welcome! The resort is also surrounded by a walking trail that lead to various elevations along the Sea. We stayed 3 evening but did not get to use the exercise facilities and it was too late in the season to enjoy the beautiful outdoor pool. The town of Piombino is a hidden gem not known for tourism but the combination of this resort, the location on the Sea and the history in the town make a must see place for tourists. I think this place hits it out of the park.... If we return to Italy we will leave the normal tourist traps to return here once again.…
We stayed at La Sorgente for a few days for a special family occasion and we really enjoyed it. Our room was nice - if a little basic ( no fridge/ mini-bar - no glasses / cups ) and those wonderful towels that you only seem to find in Italian hotels - that are like tea towels. Those are really my only negative comments - now onto the good stuff! - The location is spectacular - over looking the sea , the staff are very friendly and accommodating and the food is really good ! We actually had the special occasion lunch for 25 here and the food, service and atmosphere was fab. I have to say that I visit Piombino a lot to see family and will stay here all the time now. Re - the spa, you need to book any treatments before you go. I think once they've ironed out the kinks, it will be really nice.…
