Delightful old hotel by the River Arno. The hotel is very (very) old, dating back to twelve century. It has a great history and has undoubtedly seen better times. It is very very dated but has so much character that this more than compensates for the negatives of the hotel. It probably needs a million pounds spending to bring it up to modern standards. Negatives, - electric and sockets etc very old, plumbing old and small water leak from overhead cistern, some of furniture old dated 1960s Formica. Positives, - it is so old it has loads of character, many of the furnishing and fittings are antiques and of high quality. Original tiled floors and radiators etc. Old photos and plans on walls and very old classic style windows with internal shutters (that work) Big bathroom and a traditional feel. Have an explore of the hotel, there are pianos, old telephone kiosks and old motorbikes and antiques and curios everywhere. There is a rooftop garden which is good to chill and the breakfast was good enough. Staff all very friendly. This is a very old hotel but it is very inexpensive and so please bear this in mind. This is not a Travelodge, it is clean but not modern and if you accept it for what it is then you will certainly enjoy your stay here. If you can’t accept the negatives of this hotel then go elsewhere.

We arrived late at night and the young man on reception was friendly and professional. He spoke perfect English but was willing to speak in Italian to me as I am learning! We were given an enormous room which was spotlessly clean. The only drawback is I had not booked a room with air conditioning! It was rather hot but we were so tired we had no problem sleeping. The corridors and public rooms are decorated in a 19th century vintage style which takes you back in time. I loved it. The breakfast was served in a huge room with a small outside covered patio. There were lots of options of cereals, pastries, etc . The upstairs roof terrace is so beautiful! Just go and have a look. The staff were all very aware of wearing masks and there is hand sanitizer on each floor. They took hygiene very seriously. The location is perfect for exploring Pisa. I would definitely stay here again. We walked to the train station with our luggage which was a straightforward 10 mins walk.

Hotel Very old and not well maintained. We were in a room as small as a closet. The furniture doesn’t have to be this obsolete to be in the “70s” theme. Breakfast alright but long wait for a coffee and terrace was facing some abandoned facade with pigeons.. small detail not very important, but if you want to make a typical old fashioned theme hotel you need to play some appropriate music and not some hit radio. Could have been much better.

English: Sadly a very bad happy hour. The food was of extremely low quality that included dips, pickles and onions probably bought at a low cost discount. The bread was dry and not fresh. Very expensive too. The wine was OK. That's unfortunate as the terrace is lovely. Not raccommended at all.

We flew into Pisa and spent one night at the old historic Royal Victoria Hotel before we could get into our apartment rental in Florence. Check-in was quick and easy and the staff seemed friendly and helpful. It has an excellent location, close to both the airport and train station, and within walking distance of the leaning tower. Our large room, which looked out over the River Arno, had a comfortable bed and a large bathroom. The hotel also has a quiet rooftop terrace where you can relax and have a glass of wine. The building has been a hotel since 1837 and the furnishings--which are all antique--make you feel as though you have stepped back into a different era. If you are looking for a hotel steeped in historic character and ambiance, then this is a great find and since many people come to Italy to look at ancient antiquities and ruins, it fits right in. However, if you want a modern luxury hotel with all the modern convinces and amenities, then you’ve got the wrong place. {PaM}
