Borgo della Madonnina sits nestled in a picturesque valley, and upon arrival you're immediately immersed in the beauty of the Tuscan countryside. If you’re touring Italy and need a peaceful break, this is the perfect place. Christopher and Adrian are thoughtful and friendly hosts; their knowledge of the local area and their village is extensive and very helpful. Their kindness...

We had a longtime dream of a quiet woodland vacation; this place was all that we dreamed. This flat land/city girl was a bit unnerved by the trips up and down the mountain, but my husband did the driving and became accustomed. The cottage houses are right out of a fairy tale. We stayed in La Rocia, a two story...

I stayed here with my girlfriend and her sister for a lovely long weekend in June. We stayed in the big house which was well renovated with lovely bathrooms and spacious living areas. The owners were wonderfully accommodating and helpful with advice for places to visit and things to do. I would definitely recommend people looking for an authentic and...

We have just returned from Borgo della Maddonnina today after a brilliant 10 day visit and can't recommend it highly enough. If you are after a quiet and picturesque base to visit the region stay here. The cottage was perfect for two, really nicely decorated and had everything we needed for our stay including a BBQ on our private terrace...

Me and my partner really loved everything about this place! The beautifully renovated house (la roccia), the way it was decorated, the brilliant view from the pool, the short drive to beautiful Lucca and also how nice and quit the location is. And last but not least: the really nice owners. For us Borgo della Madonnia is the best place...

We had a lovely few days in Il Forno, which is a beautifully converted outbuilding attached to the owners' farmhouse and one of the one bedroom cottages at Borgo della Madonnina. Il Forno is laid across two floors and built into the hillside; an upstairs lounge allows a better view through the trees to the valley beyond, and the downstairs...

After a long drive from Denmark (with a few stops), we arrived at Borgo delle Madonnia. The hosts, Adrian and Chris are very friendly, helpful. Like some of the other reviews say, they know when to be there and when not. There are very nice and very affordable restaurants near by. One within walking distance (0,5 km) however you have...

Rustic beautiful charming secluded authentic and peaceful - this is a real retreat. Short drive to amazing little village trattorias with delicious pasta, pizza, local wines, gelato and full menus. The historical and picturesque town of Lucca is an easy drive away, as are amazing beaches on the coast. But you could just as well just stay in the pool...

What a magical place! Borgo was the perfect location to take advantage of all the best of Tuscany whilst returning to a peaceful idyllic base in the hills. The surrounding area was full of surprises, and removed yet close enough to amenities. Adrian and Christopher are totally delightful, the best hosts and just lovely lovely people. Their thoughtfulness and generosity...

Our Tuscan holiday at La Stalla couldn't have been more perfect. The house was exactly what we were looking for: a base from which we could explore Tuscany, but one which we always looked forward to coming back to each evening - mostly to just sit out on the terrace and look at the stars. The property is set high...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Borgo della Madonnina is set in over seven acres of pine and chestnut forest, with abundant olive and fruit trees and beautiful views over the valley. The small touches make a stay here special. The houses date from the mid 1700s and have many original features, including exposed stone walls and original ceilings with chestnut beams and cotto tiles. The overall feel is light and airy, with simple but thoughtful décor, pleasant furniture, pretty bedding and plenty of fresh towels. ... more   less
