We stayed in the apartment, separated from the main hotel and really enjoyed the accommodation. Great attention was given to maintaining the ancient vibes of the building while updating the space nicely too. It enters from a private doorway on the main corridor in Lucca, between a cocktail bar/cafe and a gelato shop. No elevator so you have to climb a few tall flights to get to it. I would knock off half a point if I could for the shabby shape of the two couches and the worn mattress, but they were clean and we slept fine so I will give them that. Please note; you hear EVERYTHING going on down on the street and as stated, it’s in a very bustling location with folks dining, drinking and very often shouting just below the bedroom windows. The noise goes late and starts again very early with trash trucks banging around etc. I can’t stress enough that it is noisy and there is no option to get away from it save to sleep in the bathroom. Lucca is all stone and masonry with narrow corridors so even regular speaking level voices echo and reverberate loudly here. I didn’t ding any points for this because it didn’t really bother us but I’m positive it would be unacceptable for people who require quite. The kitchen was nice but very sparsely stocked, where even the addition of a sauce pot to boil water would have been very helpful. We made it work with the little that was there and compared to the US, groceries were extremely cheap so it wasn’t a big deal to have to get our own salt, sugar, etc. We left those things behind so maybe the folks after us will be a bit better set up. The opportunity to cook for ourselves was very welcome and there’s a great little market just around the corner where we got lots of what we needed. There’s also a couple grocery stores within easy walking distance. The central location makes it easy to walk to everything we wanted to do on our 5 days in Lucca and there’s even a self serve laundromat near by. We were amused that it’s immediately facing the Museum of Torture and the mildly grotesque signage for that, but some folks may not appreciate that so be warned. The proprietors could easily make this space so much nicer by removing the busted old electronics instead of just setting a tiny new tv in front of the huge busted old one, but whatever. We were able to catch up on Netflix and we were content.…
Brilliant central position - step in off the main street - Via Filungo, into a clean comfortable oasis of calm. Really helpful staff. Excellent breakfast - croissants, fruit, smoothies, fruit juice, bread toast, jam, honey, nuttella, butter, ham off the bone, salami, eggs, tomatoes, olives, yoghurt - think that is everything. And of course tea, coffee or chocolate. Really comfortable bed. Everything superbly clean. The only negative was the stairs to the entrance - but as the hotel is on the first floor over the shops, there is not a lot they can do about that. In short, an excellent base from which to explore the town - and not too far from trains, buses etc to go further.
A lovely, authentic Hotel, right in the centre of Lucca and within easy walking distance of everything you want. Open the grand doors into the courtyard and then enter the most delightful of rooms. We were in Lucca for the Summer Festival to see Liam Gallagher and Kasabian and the venue is a five minute walk away. Ingrid was very welcoming and friendly and even when we were late for breakfast she left it out for us to enjoy. The rooms are very clean and tidy and it’s a hotel I would happily return to in Lucca.
I booked a room directly on the hotel website in late October 2021, received a confirmation email detailing the room type, dates and the price per night. When we arrived in April 2022, they had no record of our reservation. A little disappointed they did not take ownership of the issue with their website losing a reservation - their response was it was our problem. Actually said "you are lucky we still have an apartment available that we can rent to you." I did not feel "lucky" that they lost my reservation. The apartment was nice (warning: many steep stairs to climb) - although no breakfast and no housekeeping during our stay. It was fairly quiet - based on other reviews - the apartment may be quieter than the hotel.
Lovely host, great location, good rooms, but be aware you are on the main pedestrian street in Lucca, so on a busy night, there is more than a bit of noise until the early morning. I wouldn’t want to leave the bedroom window open and plan on a good nights sleep until well past midnight. Marta was incredibly helpful, and booked restaurants and anything else we asked her to organise . Location is perfect, less than 5 minutes walk from the centre of Lucca. Recently renovated, the B&B really works well, if you’re comfortable that ambient noise might be quite late, this is a winner
Perfect location in the heart of Lucca, just a couple of minutes walk from the restaurants and shops. Tremendous historic building added to the experience, plus the rooms were very comfortable, clean and roomy. Staff friendly and very attentive as hotel is quite small and family run. Morning continental breakfast was exactly what we hoped for!
Very comfortable and convenient stay here . Lovely bright room, clean, good linens . Tasty bfast and friendly staff. Only comment is that although website says laundry service there is in fact not one. This was not a problem for us but worth noting .
Stayed just as Palazzo Busdraghi was re-opening after the height of the Coronavirus crisis - at what is an immensely difficult time for all in Lucca with so much grief, suffering and profound worry. Even in these circumstances Marta and the team were brimming with charm, consideration and warmth in the welcome they provided - unbelievable and humbling. The hotel was everything that the 5 star reviews on tripadvisor say and capture more eloquently. Definitely a most wonderful place to stay - breakfast is exceptional and rooms beautifully furnished and so comfortable. One can only wish Palazzo Busdraghi and all those connected with the establishment hope and prosperity for the future in the current times.
We stayed here in September, very nice hotel, right in the centre of Lucca. You can take your car to the entrance , unload, then park in their private car park.the price was 125 Euro including breakfast and the private parking. Very interesting original building, nice people, would stay again.
Perfect location and guests, clean, great food and great coffee, perfect rooms and amenities and vrey customer oriented. We extended our stay as we felt as home there, so we stayed almost tree weeks in summer 2019 and it was the perfect vacation. Right in the heart of Lucca, lots of restaurants , ice creams shops and shopping around, near the walls, so we could enjoy morning joggings, everything was perfect. We would love to go back. Thank you, Ingrid, Marta and everyone at Palazzo Busdraghi.Hope to see you soon!
