Good location right near main station, within walking distance to city centre. Breakfast was good, and room was adequate. However, wifi service was ridiculous and barely worked, and we had to use a bathroom on the other side of the building which featured a shower...More
Hotel Hermes is a clean and well-run utilitarian hotel nearly directly across from the Firenze SMN train station. Tram stop is a few steps away. Bathroom was shared. Sink in room. The breakfast was basic but quite good. Excellent value.
We arrived at the Hermes, and were greeted by the young lady attendant who furnished us with a map whilst we waited for our room to be readied, and also pointed out to us on the map the major places of interest, this set the...More

Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The
area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
I am planning to visit Florence in October with a family of 5.
My Father has mobility issues, I wanted to know if there is a lift or a wheelchair available in your hotel. This is in case there are no rooms available on the ground level.
