We spent 2 days of our 13 day Italian honeymoon in Florence. I found a great deal at Hotel Silla online, and we were not disappointed. The location right on the Arno River was picturesque and close to everything. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. They not only made all of our museum reservations for us in advance, but...

This hotel is very conveniently located, walking distance from the Ufizzi Gallery, Ponte Vechio and Pitti Palace, which is why I chose it. It is also reasonably priced with garage parking included and a nice view. The accomodations are clean, but sparse, in that there are no comfortable chairs in the room and the bed is very firm. The staff...

Very gracious staff and accomodating; great breakfast and wine bar in the p.m. Clean and recently remodeled to reflect the historic influence of Florencence. Centrally located and able to explore Florence on foot or taxi should you choose. Excellent accomodations; highly recommend both the hotel and their staff. Thanks Hotel Silla for making my visit so wonderful.

I stayed at the Hotel Silla this past November for four nights and I loved the place! It is very clean, very pretty (they redecorate every 3 years) and is a perfect location for easy walks to all the sights in Florence. The breakfast is fine, with great attention from the women who prepare your coffee to taste. Be sure...

We have stayed at Hotel Silla 3 times over the past 10 years and it keeps getting better. The staff is friendly, helpful, accommodating; their restaurant recommendations on the mark, breakfast is bountiful on the beautiful terrace and the location is ideal in that we could walk everwhere but were out of main traffic.

Excellent hotel in a good location. Very helpful.friendly staff. Good breakfast. I am a tour leader who has spent 15 years traveling the world. So I have seen all types of hotels... good, bad and ugly. The Hotel Silla is an excellent choice - I have stayed there with a group and have rebooked for another group. The hotel is...

The hotel was a short taxi ride from the train station and in a convient location. It is on the south bank of the Arno River, but it is a short walk to the Ponte Vecchio and all major attactions. It is about 2 blocks to the Ponte Vecchio, I have attached photos for reference. Tip: Before you go, you...

I cannot say enough positive things about the folks working at this hotel. They were simply wonderful, really helpful and friendly. I almost hate to say this in a review, but here it goes: we found a bed bug in our room. From speaking with Italian friends I've heard that this is a HUGE problem in ALL the hotels in...

I've given the hotel 3 starts but would have given it 3.5 if I could. We selected based on Tripadvisor reviews and on the basis that in an extremely expensive city Hotel Silla was not as expensive as most others with good reviews. The hotel is located on the south side of the river so you need to be healthy...

We stayed her for 2 nights, beginning Sept. 28, 2009. We found it on tripadvisor and made the decision based on the reviews, location, price and good communication. They always returned my e-mails in a timely fashion and answered all my questions. They helped me make museum reservations and to know what taxi fares would be. The hotel was in...

Staying in Piazzale Michelangelo

Neighbourhood Profile
Piazzale Michelangelo
Just outside the ancient walls of Florence, Viale Michelangiolo starts. It is a winding road rimmed by wonderful poplars and holm oaks. The long ascent opens up to the most beautiful and famous panoramic viewpoint of Florence: Piazzale Michelangelo, where an elevated terrace offers visitors an incomparable and breathtaking view of the entire city from above. During good weather, Piazzale Michelangelo provides visitors with a serene space surrounded by the amazing landscape, better if accompanied by a fresh gelato from a local kiosk. During night, visitors will be dazzled by the warm lights of the capital of the Renaissance. Spend a second with the silent Romanesque beauty of the Basilica of San Miniato al Monte: the one that wishes good morning and good night to Florence!
