Located in a wonderful neighborhood that is both bustling and quiet; busy and serene, the Hotel Silla provides the tranquility to rest and recharge for your next Florentine adventure. You will find excellent choices for dinner and drinks just a few doors down. Don't worry about noise, the neighborhood uses the Arno as a natural sound barrier and for some reason, the noise never carried up into our rooms.

Our rooms and the hallways leading to them are uniquely beautiful. Though the outside facade of the hotel and the common areas pay homage to the history of the building and the city, the hallways feature modern pieces and our rooms and bathrooms were very clean and modern. I appreciated the hotel blending time periods to showcase various artists.

All of our beds were beyond comfortable and we woke up every day to the smell of freshly baked bread in the morning. The best alarm in my opinion. This is great foreshadowing for your day: the lady who runs the breakfast and her staff are just too sweet and accommodate EVERYONE. All the breakfast items from the baked goods to the cheese plates, cereals, beverages, and pancakes were delicious and constantly restocked. Trust me, the staff was running back and forth replenishing different items at all times. The best complement to a delicious breakfast and outstanding service is the terrace where you enjoy it all. The dining room is also a wonderful space but with two small children I had to be considerate.

In addition to the morning staff, the front desk staff was also friendly, helpful, and accommodating to any request and concern. When we needed to take the COVID tests a day earlier than planned they made sure we got it done on time to continue with our itinerary.

Our family will definitely be staying here again when we return to Florence.

We stayed for three nights to visit the city center. The hotel gives direct access as only a few minutes walk are required across the river. Also, the hotel has direct access to a bus line which is practical.

The rooms are small, but ok, at least for a short stay. However, room sizes vary significantly, so be careful. Also, the noise level in the rooms at the reception level is quite high due to the bar and the hallway that everyone needs to pass. So, better ask for a room on higher floors.

Breakfast is offered in two ways: either coffee and sweet bread or what is considered a full breakfast including eggs and pancakes from a machine. Acceptable and fairly priced. Together with the great view from the main terrace worth considering.

I would always stay at this hotel again as the value for the price is very attractive.

We have stayed at Hotel Silla several times and were delighted to make reservations once again as Italy opened up to U.S. tourists.
The hotel has gone to great lengths to keep their guests protected— masks required in all hotel common spaces, hand sanitizers placed everywhere, breakfast buffet packaged to avoid contact, etc.
On top of that, the staff answered
Emails quickly and were very helpful re train reservations, private drivers and other matters.

This is not a Luxury Hotel. It is a small boutique style property situated in a lovely, convenient location in Florence.
There are different types of rooms and prior to booking you need to choose carefully.
I was traveling with my daughter and she had selected a double comfort room.
Upon arrival we were given one of the rooms that was not remodeled. An old fashioned antique styled room in that same category.
In my opinion, even with it’s lovely view it was outdated and not comfortable for us.
We returned to the lobby and spoke with Laura and Ravine. They told us how glad they were that we expressed our concerns and they understood.
They immediately changed us to the same room type, that had been remodeled.
Although the view was not as pretty, it was perfect for our needs, being more spacious and very comfortable!
We especially appreciated the added touch of classical Florentine bath towels!
Breakfast was included and did not lack anything. Fresh fruit, bread, eggs, cheese and meat served on a lovely patio. Great double espresso cappuccino!
Just ask and they will provide.
The staff aims to please and takes your concerns seriously!
No complaints!
I would not hesitate to return to this lovely “feel at home” property!!!

We stayed in Hotel Silla for New Years with my fiance and my son. Great location, just 5-10 mins walk from the city center, 5 mins from Ponte Vecchio and just underneath Piazzale Michelangelo. Access is great, you can stop with the car right in front of the hotel to unload the baggage and there are public parkings available in the surrounding area of the hotel. Hotel has a smaller garage that costs 30€ a night as well. Public parking is as well somewhere in this price range. The rooms are very clean and modernly renovated, staff is very friendly. The waiter at breakfast was very helpful and understanding with our 1 year old son - brought the child feeding chair and did not mind the mess he left :) Will def. return when we decide to visit Florence again.

The Good.
1) Our room was spacious and bright (Superior Family Room) to accommodate 4 people. Window looked out to a small side street with shops (but quiet), large bathroom, love the towels (thin but absorbed like a sponge! I'm going to see where I could find some to bring home). .
2) My sons actually squealed in delight after finding out how fast the free internet was.
3) Air-conditioning is soo important, and our room's worked perfectly!!
4) After many hiccups with my reservations (my fault) front desk checked us through seamlessly. Thanks to the constant email exchanges from staff (Laura).
5) Breakfast was filled with wonderful pastries, sweets and selections (they even have raw honeycomb). Their pancakes are "to die for".
6) Location: 10 mins walk from Ufisi Museum, 20mins walk to Academia museum. Cafés and restaurants right below and lots of shops just 7 mins walk across the bridge. From Santa Maria Novello station costs 17 EURO to hotel by taxi (should NOT be more than 20 EURO). Taxis ate parked in front of the metro station.
The Not so Good.
1) Pillows in the room were like compressed cotton. Had to ask for 4 extras
2) One of the guests mentioned "the smell". We definitely got that, luckily, I brought a bottle of Boucheron perfume with me on the trip.
3) Breakfast, their scrambled eggs were so runny and tasted strange. I asked for a fried egg and the lady said "We only have scrambled". Limited selections of hot foods (just runny scrambled eggs and soggy fried prosciutto). It would be wonderful to be able to have fried eggs or others.
4) The front of the hotel is under constructions, so it is not attractive, but nothing they could do. Our room was in the back so it was nice and quiet. Make sure to ask for a room away from constructions or high up.
Take away: I would wait for constructions to be done and renovations finished to be able to fully enjoy staying at Hotel Silla. However, Laura was AMAZING at helping me navigate our reservations mixed up, so that alone is worth repeat business.

I stayed here for 5 nights in September with my daughter, who was doing a study abroad, and this is the hotel her school put her in during her month in Florence. I knew nothing about the hotel going in, and am not even sure what it cost in comparison to other hotels nearby because I didn’t pay for it (the price was bundled in her whole study-abroad trip cost).

It’s in the “Oltrarno” area of Florence, an older, more historic (if that’s even possible since Florence as a whole is extremely historic), and more “local” area of the city. This really just means it’s on one side of the river vs the other. But there are several walkways that take you over the river, and it basically feels like it’s all one and the same.

Based on the size and amenities of the hotel, I assume it’s a budget hotel and relatively inexpensive, and if so, I would stay here again because it was really conveniently located to the Ponte Vecchio, and easily walkable to downtown, and if the price is inexpensive, it’s a good deal based on the location. I know there are hotels much closer to the downtown area, but if you don’t have mobility issues, you can very easily walk everywhere you want to go (I walked to the Duomo, the Accademia museum, and the Uffitzi).

Be prepared for the room to be extremely small. We barely had room to open a large suitcase on the floor, and the “closet” was barely large enough to store one person’s clothes. The bathroom was tiny, there was no counter space, and no hooks to hang towels and rags (thankfully I brought 3M sticky hooks with me that I was able to attach to the walls, and removed before I left), and the shower is tiny.

There’s also no screens on the windows, so you choose to live with bugs, or you choose fresh air, but I think that’s because it’s an old building, and that is probably very common of other buildings and hotels in the area. But – you’re almost never in your room, and we certainly weren’t doing any major dressing up (it was hot and humid when I was there, and I was just being touristy), so none of this stuff was a real concern.

The room was facing the street, so every morning when the trash collector came to empty the 9 or 10 trash cans that were outside her window, we were woken up by a really loud mechanical noise. This would have annoyed me in an American hotel, but I took it with a grain of salt given we were in such an old city and this is just the way it is (I assume).

The building is secure, and there’s very friendly and attentive security at the front desk. They know everyone who comes and goes. I felt very safe here, and I would stay here again (assuming it’s a better deal than hotels that are between it and the downtown area).

We had a really nice time at Hotel Silla. It is very well positioned to get around the historic center by foot, near the river and with parking. It also has a lovely balcony on which to watch the sunset. The only reason why it didn't receive a 5-star rating is because it has two types of rooms - very new modern ones, and pretty old ones. We booked a three person one initially and then when our third person couldn't come, we switched to a two person. The differences in the rooms were night and day. Perhaps the updated two person rooms were sold out, but the new room we got was not a 5-star room. Still clean but very outdated. If you book a new room though then you are all set.

The hotel surpass my expectation in many ways. Although the room is not fancy, it’s clean and spacious. Its location, although on the other side of the river, is very convenient to all the major attractions of Florence. If you prefer not to walk, you can always take C4/22 buses, with the bus stops right in the front of the hotel. Besides, the hotel offers free hot breakfast with lots of choices.

All our rooms have heating and air conditioning, and yes, it works pretty well! You can walk to the Uffizi Gallery or the Old Bridge in 10 minutes and to the Cathedral in 15. The station is at about 30 minutes it is a nice stroll through the center but if you have a lot of luggage a taxi or a bus is a better option. You can take a look on our web site on how to reach the hotel by bus, or use google maps, it will show bus times and the quickest option at the time of your arrival.

There is no free parking in the area (with the exception of Sundays), the rate on the streets is €2.50 per hour from 8 am to 8 pm. The cost of our garage is 19 € per night for direct reservations (i.e. through our official website). At the moment we also have a special offer with a 50% discount on the garage rate (for non-refundable reservations only).
