Gardens with amazing view of Florence. Friendly staff, knowledgeable of the fascinating history of the building. Stayed in a private room with twin beds and ensuite bathroom. Great place to stay if you are traveling by car.

How beautiful, how different, how peaceful, amazing hostel! You won't be disappointed. It's an old monastery and on a hillside with panoramic views of the city. Lush dorms guaranteed. It's a must experience if in town.

Such an incredible place! I just love it! It is a renovated monastery in the outside of Florence with these gorgeous dorms, nice views of the city and a nice breakfast with coffee, sweets and ham & toast (only missing some fruit. You can feel you are staying in a luxury hotel but still with the atmosphere of a Hostel!...

I LOVED this hostel. The bathrooms are clean, the water is hot, there is nightly dinner for 7 euros (it alternates between pasta with basic red sauce or lasagna...the food is delicious), cheap and yet DELICIOUS local wine, INCREDIBLE views of Firenze, comfortable beds (the best sleep I've ever gotten in a hostel was at this place), lockers for your...

This hostel is perfect to explore the countryside of tuscany because it is located in the middle of it, with a spectacular view of florence. I stayed in the 8 bed dorm and I was blown away about the value you get, especially for the price. Not only the views and location, also the rooms, cleanliness, the nice Breakfast with...

This hostel made me fall in love with Florence. It is gorgeous, massive, and the terrace offers a picturesque view of the city, gardens, vinyards, and the smell--you just want to bottle it up it's so good. I'm very adventurous and low maintenance, so the whole no kitchen thing and events being hosted there didn't bother me one bit. They...

The good: -The location is by far the best thing about this hostel. It's located outside of Florence and offers beautiful views of the city. -The owner was very nice and welcoming. -The room and facilities were full of character since it used to be an old monastery. The bad -There's no kitchen and no nearby restaurants/markets. You better make...

Hello! Thanks for writing and the good things you wrote. As to the negative parts of being at the Hostel it is true that we are not in a center with supermarkets and shops around. This is an antique monastery in the tuscan countryside with a special view from our terrace on Florence. But to give service we offer different...

Don´t go to this hostel if you hate letting go your ego and expectations. Or if you prefer spening your time in the materialistic whirlpool that the centre of Florence has become. But it is definitely the right place for you if you like being called a friend, knowing most of the guests in the hostel because you have spent...

Dear Zsuzsi, Reading your opinion makes us really happy. It is exactly this unique travellers'experience we try to offer at the Hostel; an amazing medieval building surrounded by tuscan countryside and overlooking whole Florence where to meet others and socialize. So we hope you can just come back again, we would love it! Our best greetings, Tommaso, Francesco, myself and...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
This antique medieval building, dating back to the 13th century, called Antico Spedale del Bigallo, offered once hospitality and shelter for travelers and pilgrims headed to Rome. Now this ancient building has been renovated and is equipped with all the necessary comforts to offer modern travelers the same shelter and unique experience as once before, all the while maintaining its original medieval atmosphere. At our Bigallo Hostel, organized into fascinating and characteristic dormitories and rooms with 52 beds total, you will have the experience of staying among the hills of southern Florence, immersed in a one of a kind natural context, closely connected to the territory and its traditions and uniqueness. Relishing in the peace and quiet of the surrounding hills and the green of the olive trees while taking in a picturesque view of nearby Florence, it is easy to reach by car in only a few minutes. It is ideal for large organized groups, a party of friends or family reunions that can chose to stay in one of our three large dormitories with shared bathrooms or our private double or triple rooms each with private bathroom. It has a beautiful garden and a panoramic terrace along with various common areas for meetings, workshops and other activities. The Bigallo Hostel is also a place to meet new friends and get to know local people; a place where you can participate in the various events and cultural and social activities that we organize.
