Florence is not a cheap place to stay. Sure, you can find basic, economical accommodation, but it still tends to be expensive given how this city is such a major tourist attraction. So instead, we decided to bite the bullet, pay a little bit more than a standard room in an overpriced hotel, and rented an apartment at this venue....

The space and amenities at this residence are incredible. We had one of the smaller rooms (i Medici) and it consisted of a kitchenette - complete with washer./dryer, refrigerator, microwave, and dishwasher, a sitting area with a sofa bed, a double bed and a nice size bathroom. There are also various groceries included. The free wi-fi worked well. The location...

WE stayed at the First of Florence in October 2016. It was a lovely apartment with a large kitchen and separate bedroom/lounge, and huge bathroom. We stayed in the apartment next to the receptionist. The building/apartments are very safe, as you need a key to get in the huge front door, then another key to open the apartment on the...

It is a guest house with hotel amenities, which means it is located at a mixed building with apartments, law offices, etc; and the lovely receptionists leave at night but you can call the administration at any time. That being said, the location is wonderful, 5 or 7 blocks away from the mercato centrale, 3 from la Accademia, 3 from...

Very nice room, for 2/3 people, very high ceilings with frescoes, large apartment, looked newly renovated and can't fault. No English TV channels, walk in shower. Good service, good location, 10-15 minutes walk to most locations. Fruit basket in fridge. Best place we stayed for our 3 week Italy trip. Plenty of restaurants and shops in walking distance.

Our family of 4 stayed 3 nights in a 2 bedroom apartment. Downstairs was a spacious lounge, dining and kitchenette area. Window that opened on to the street. Didn't use the kitchen much but the in room washer/dryer was really convenient. (still no iron though - not sure what Italian hotels have against Irons). Upstairs there were 2 bedrooms and...

Stayed for two nights at a nice apartment with two adult children. Interior is very in the superior room, modern, all facilities you can think of. Dimmer in light, dishwasher, TV, air conditioning, fancy bath. Breakfast across the street at OK Cafe is "OK" but add some more European / American breakfast to it as its Italian style breakfast. Very...

My family of 5 stayed in the 2 bedroom apartment and loved it! The location was a couple blocks from the Doumo and we felt very safe. The apartment is huge with soaring ceilings and 3 bathrooms. The kitchen was updated and everything was clean and comfortable. Check in and checking out were easy and they allowed us to store...

This was by far the best apartment we have stayed in on this trip to Italy. I know it was expensive and you get what you pay for but it was fantastic. Location is good. Check in smooth. Staff very friendly and knowledgeable. They can't do enough for you. Free maps of Florence, where to eat. We could not fault...

Staying in Duomo

Neighbourhood Profile
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
