We were not expecting or even wanting an upscale hotel - but we most certainly found Ferdinando dei Medici several notches above a the basic, quaint hotel we expected for the price. The room and en-suite bath were both nice sized. Queen sized bed was comfortable and bed and bath linens were substantial. Other Pros were the lift, art, simple...

Ferdinando il dei Medici was a great, simple B&B with a lovely, polite staff and excellent accommodations. The room was bright, airy, and had a great big bed with freshly laundered linens. The bathroom was also so convenient, located in the same room and more spacious than I thought it would be. Clean, hospitable, quiet, and perfect for a traveling...

A wonderful little quaint hotel. Close to everything and right on the bus line. It's clean, quiet and loaded with charm. The staff is so very helpful and accommodating. The breakfast is so so, but adequate. Overall a great value. I would stay again.

I stayed there and it was a lot of fun. very good location right near the great piazzas and restraunts. We had trouble with parking but finally we did spot a car park after an afternoon of searching. nice area, very basic breakfast which did ruin a bit. After all a good place to stay.

This hotel was a lovely surprise. It was in a great location, had a lift, your own bathroom and lovely artwork on the walls. Our room was a reasonable size and clean. The hotel staff were lovely and very helpful. The breakfast was adequate, nothing flash but enough to get going. Another thing that I noticed was that for those...

We had scouted several others and were surprised to find that this, pleasanter and nearer to the centers of interest in Firenze, was cheaper. Almost all small hotels have to be approached through huge gloomy entrance halls and staircases and elevators, but as soon as you step inside this one it's nice. I liked the people; they had an unaffected...

We arrived in Florence without booking a room because we like to see what we're getting. We called about 15 places in the guidebook and they were full, dingy or too expensive. About two hours later, one of the proprietors recommended Ferdinando II dei Medici. We liked it immediately. The room had the highest ceilings I've ever seen and a...

We stayed for two nights in May 2012 at this nice little hotel perfectly located in Central Florence. Very friendly staff, quite nice room, with a quite comfortable bed and surprisingly large bathroom. A typical Italian breakfast was provided which was very satisfactory. The only thing that I would have done different is to NOT sleep with the window open,...

I was looking for a low cost room in the center of Florence and we stayed at his hotel for four nights. It is centrally located but that is all I can say for it. Our room was noisy and not clean. The bathroom was not clean and I hated to use it. Breakfast was a misnomer. The worst of...

Staying in Duomo

Neighbourhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
