Mum and I stayed here recently on a Jet2 City Break. It was a very comfortable hotel in a central location in Florence. The breakfast contained fresh fruit, selection of cereal, yogurts, boiled and scrambled eggs, juices, bacon and sausages, cold meats and a range of breads. The staff in the restaurant were attentive. The staff in reception were very...

My an na my boyfriend visited Florence for the Easter and stayed there for 3 nights. It was clean, with good breakfast and good proximity from Santa Maria Novella church. Though, the area is not great around the hotel.. in addition, there were road works just outside of our window, waking us up at 7am almost every day!..

This hotel is great for those wishing to examine Florence on foot. Everything is so close, 400 m from Santa Maria Novella. Great beds. A prosciutto at the breakfast (if you quick enough and get up early). Great coffee. We'll stay here again next time. The only thing: they did not give us wine glasses. I think it is unfair...

Very basic hotel. Room too hot with air con blowing out hot air even when switched off. Opening window let in a swarm of mosquitoes - I received 8 bites in one night. Shower grout mouldy. Breakfast staff friendly, food choices limited. Location good for train station. I have stayed in nicer hotels in Florence for similar cost.

Loved our four person room. Very clean bedroom and bathroom and great service. The location was amazing because it was right next to the train station and close to tourist attractions. The breakfast is amazing!

The best things that can be said about this hotel: proximity to the train station (which is also nearby where most of the tour buses depart/return), very good breakfast and the staff in the restaurant is very thoughtful. The rooms were quite stark...no rugs, nothing on the walls, only one small shelf to put your clothes. The front room staff...

A well maintained and clean hotel. Stayed with my husband and 13 year old son in interconnecting rooms, which both had enough suite facilities. Quite considering location we slept late each morning. Loved the breakfast pancakes. Close to all sights and restaurants as well as walking distance from the train station.

Very nice and cosy restaurant, at a very convenient walking distance from the main train station in Florence. From there it's easy to wander around the beautiful city. Sleep quality is very good (but we had a room facing the back of the hotel, so no views to be expected), and breakfast was interesting, but not the best 4-star-hotel breakfast...

The hotel is truly within walking distance from the train station and you can easily walk with your luggage (dodging a few oriental tourist running in the opposite direction late in catching a train). It is also within a pleasant walk from the main tourist "must -sees" and the Mercato Centrale. The staff is friendly and helpful. We had two...

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
