Once we found it after walking around in circles from the station (suggest taxi). The welcome was friendly and efficient from Jacob(?) at the front desk. Rooms aren't particularly spacious but as we weren't there for sitting in the room it was ideal. Clean with nice crisp bed linen and fluffy towels. Requested an additional pillow and a bath robe...

The hotel was very nice. The room was clean and well equipped with a small terrasse. The location was pretty good, one street and 10 minute walk to the duomo. The service at the front desk was very rude however.

We have just returned from a week in Florence, staying at the athenaeum hotel. The staff are very pleasant and helpful, the food in the restuarant is reasonably priced. I haven't given five stars however, because the standard rooms are very small, as are the ensuite shower rooms, so if you intend to spend time chilling in the room, you...

For valentines day, we wanted to spend the weekend in Florence and went there by car. We booked this Hotel mainly because of its location close to all major attractions and it has parking lots. The staff is friendly, check in/out is efficient and well explained. The room was clean, average in size but enough for a weekend. It looks...

Our tour company booked this hotel for our group of 33 travelers. Our check-in was handled by our tour director and appeared to go seamlessly. Our rooms were ready upon our arrival and were very acceptable to my wife and me. All from our group that we talked to about their room were satisfied with their accommodations. The strong point...

Hotels rooms are smaller as compared the the US and since the buildings are old the renovation does not compare to what we have here. Nevertheless it is clean and comfortable and the proximity to all the action and sight seeing is the plus.

The staff at the hotel were lovely and so helpful. The waiter at their restaurant, his name escapes me, was seriously amazing!! He was so helpful and the service was impeccable. The rooms were nice as well, just a bit of street noise but I think that's unavoidable honestly!!

Me, my fience and our 15 year old daughter booked a vacation through Expedia and payed everything by the book. When we arrived we were met by a woman in the front desk told us that they got information that we booked a small baby instead of a teenager. She told us that they didn't have a room for us...

This property was booked by the tour group we were traveling through Italy with and not by us personally. However, having just had an amazing stay in Rome, our expectations were high when we checked in. Those feelings quickly diminished once we saw our room. The room was dark, tiny, dirty (smudges on the wall, mold in the corners of...

We stayed for 4 nights and were very content with the location and the hotel in general . It is a mile to the Uffizi , but you could not get lost . Turn left out of the hotel , and just walk along a straight road . You pass the duomo on the way . With the map that...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The pleasant atmosphere of this residential area, a stone’s throw away from the Duomo of Florence, surprises everyone. A continuous flow of backpacking students provides the tranquil surroundings for the elderly residents who sit in Piazza San Marco to read the daily newspaper. Home to several universities, including the Academy of Fine Arts, San Marco is one of the most vibrant cultural centers in the city. A bridge connecting the modern cultural activity of Florence to its classic art, represented by the everlasting magnificence of the original David, resonates as a symbol of Florence and of Italy as a whole. Get lost in a Neoclassic world, a journey back in time through historic buildings like Spedale degli Innocenti (Hospital of the Innocents), San Marco church, Basilica della Santissima Annunziata, and natural jewels like the Botanical Gardens.
