I don't know where to begin. With the graciousnes of Carmel and Pino, the convenience of location (a 5 min. walk from anywhere in the city), or the beauty of I'll Bargelino and the comfort of it's rooms. All are extraordinary. I can't say enough good about this place. For me it was like floating in a dream. If you...

I am so glad that we chose to stay at Il Bargellino during our trip to Italy. What a perfect little place. It is in walking distance to all of the local attractions and Carmel and Pino couldn't have made us feel more at home. The place itself is absolutely gorgeous. Our room was off of the patio and I...

I stayed here on a trip to Florence a few weeks ago. Went for a wedding and couldn't afford to stay at the pricier hotels with the rest of the invitees. Found Il Bargellino on line. Carmel and Pino, the owners were exceptionally helpful. Carmel is from Boston, so there was never a language barrier. She even helped me get...

It was great to stay for a week back at Bargellino. I have stayed at the hotel now several times and wouldn't stay anywhere else in Florence. Carmel, Pino and Rositta make you feel like your family and really go out of their way to make sure you feel comfortable. In fact, in my last three visits I have always...

We arrived and Carmel was immediately very helpful with information and always made it clear that she or Pino were available to help if needed. We loved our room and wished we were there in Spring or Summer so we could enjoy their lovely deck. They very kindly invited us to join them for New Years Eve, which we did,...

We loved Hotel “Il Bargellino” in Florence. I reserved early because we were to spend 15 nights between two cruises. Our stay in Florence turned out to be the best part of our long trip because returning to the “Il Bargellino” after a day of sight seeing was like returning home. While all ten rooms can use the marvelous terrace,...

My wife and I just spent 5 nights here. Other than one night, we were the only ones here (since it is low season). So needless to say, it was quiet and relaxing ... just perfect at the end of a long 3 week journey. We had a wonderful sleep every night. The best thing about this hotel is its...

I had intended to stay at Il Bargellino for 3 nights with a friend, and extended the stay for an additional 3 nights on my own. First the obvious things that others have written about - it is in a great location for being close to all of the tourist sites and on a side street to be away from...

Staying in San Lorenzo

Neighbourhood Profile
San Lorenzo
San Lorenzo’s lively merchants shout out from behind stalls with an array of products in one of the most traditional neighborhoods in Florence. Different ethnic groups join together in the large outdoor market of San Lorenzo and in the Central Market, a vast multi-floored building. Visitors are bound to fall in love with this area and in particular, with its variety of food, especially those focusing on Florentine dishes as well as international selections.
