Located in the heart of the city, The Place Firenze is an exceptional haven, more like a sophisticated Home than a hotel, adored by everyone who stays behind its discreet townhouse facade. Inside, it is elegance epitomized, with centuries worth of artifacts and lovingly homemade food served all day in its comfortable lounges. This is where different stylistic philosophies are harmoniously joined together: a Charles X fireplace, objects from the 70s, neoclassical furniture and lamps from the 50s, fit perfectly with the sleek masculine soft-colored décor. In between forays to explore the city, retreat to the hotel for drinks or perhaps a homemade cake. Watch the world go by on the al fresco Terrace in Piazza Santa Maria Novella, relax with a spritz in The Bar or on the private Rooftop Terrace with its citywide views. The Kitchen, with its refined atmosphere, serves excellent organic Tuscan and Italian specialties. The knowledgeable concierge team will happily arrange exclusive and unique experiences.

The Place Firenze was the ideal choice to spend a week in Florence. The location is good, the staff excellent, the food & drinks delicious, and the room & bath -- just the best. Breakfast each morning was the perfect way to begin the day. The concierge made reservations for us at unique restaurants each night, purchased high-speed train tickets to Bologna & explained how to use the Italian rail system as well as the layout of the Bologna station (yes, we could have done this ourselves but it was great to have the task streamlined), and graciously answered all questions about sites to visit. There are many more positive aspects -- check them out!

The setting is nice and the food is tasty, however, the menu is very limited and the portions very small. Wine list is limited and wine by the glass is very expensive. It’s next to a boutique hotel and I guess that is where the tourists come to be given what for me was poor value for money.

We only stayed for a night (thank god) in June on our way to a sailing trip on the island of Elba. I only heard good things about this hotel from trusted travel agents and had high hopes. I did not expect The Place which prides itself of the highest level of personalised service (and charges accordingly) to fail to deliver on our most basic requests: With only 1 night in town, I wanted to make sure my partner and I had a relaxed evening with a nice dinner and drinks. We reached out to the hotel a week or so in advance to get a restaurant recommendation and reservation. We chose ‘Osteria Tee Planche’ which the concierge recommended during email exchange and I asked him to make a booking for us for 8ish for dinner… that never happened and we did not hear back from the concierge or anyone else from the hotel ever again… when we arrived and inquired about the table: no one knew of our request; we asked several times at front desk: they wanted to take care of it but nothing happened. After several follow up emails and me asking directly at the front desk several times, they simply said: we cannot reach the restaurant, but we will find you a table somewhere… Seriously? They promised to follow up in the afternoon and inform us via phone and off we went for some shopping… guess what: we never heard from them. So we decided to pass by the restaurant and were lucky enough to catch a free table at 7:30pm. At 9:15 pm after we were finished with dinner and were enjoying dessert, I received an email from the hotel saying: ‘we got a table for you at 9:30 pm tonight. Enjoy your dinner…’ they must be kidding me, I thought, that really left me speechless! Also drinks were messed up: we asked for the concierge to book us a table at the beautiful and popular terrace of Hotel Continental for some pre dinner drinks. Concierge says: ‘they do not take reservations during this time of the year, you should just go there.’ When we arrived at the terrace, guess what: first thing they ask is whether we have a reservation and that we would need to wait in line for 20 minutes or so if we did not… On a more positive note: the terrace on Piazza Santa Maria Novella is nice and we enjoyed breakfast and lunch there. Upon arrival, we were upgraded to a deluxe room which was newly renovated, but still tiny with no views, but access to a small courtyard which was totally bland and sterile with no plants/flowers or chairs to sit on. Room/bathroom fixtures were all new, too new… the water tabs in the sink were installed the wrong way and we burnt our fingers with burning hot water when we washed our hands; the telephone was so new, there were no telephone numbers stored or provided anywhere so we needed to call front desk using our private mobile phones… all of these observations were reported to front desk during the first day, but nothing was made to remedy any of these mishaps. I won’t even bother to mention other smaller issues here. Only when confronted with all these issues we faced during our short stay the next day, did they let us know they were massively understaffed due to COVID absences. I really get that it is tricky to operate a hotel during these times: BUT you cannot simply charge premium prices and not deliver on your guests’ most basic requests, and not communicate proactively and openly, but instead simply hope the guest would not notice. When they were all apologetic, I first fell for it. But thinking about it: front desk had the time to chit chat with us, 2 different managers gave us an extensive tour of the hotel and room. While we did appreciate this, at the same time, they could have simply taken care of our reservation and other basic requests… At least, they should have tried to make up for it and offer some kind of compensation in such a case which they did not really apart from a farewell drink. We paid approx €700 per night for a tiny room incl of breakfast due to Leaders Club status. For the same price per night, we recently enjoyed a longer stay at Hotel Helvetia & Bristol around the corner which not only assigned to us a massive Junior Suite facing Palazzo Strozzi, but also has a most impressive Roman bath in the basement with pool, sauna, ice room etc, which is free to use for hotel guests and they were also able to get us some of the best tables in town without us having to chase… With such fierce competition in this part of town incl the excellent Helvetia&Bristol and the newly opened spectacular Palazzo Portinari Salviati, both at similar price points, but with much bigger and more impressive rooms and fantastic facilities like top notch SPAs with pools and Michelin starred restaurants, I wonder why anybody should consider staying at The Place Firenze.

Well-located and beautifully decorated, The Place would be an outstanding accommodation if not for the indifferent and uncaring staff. Should a guest have an issue or concern, it is unlikely that it will be handled graciously by the apparently all-male management, based on my own recent experience. I will never return, and I urge my fellow female travellers to take heed.

We stumbled upon The Place while walking through Florence and noticed their cute exterior dining experience set up outside. Bad decision. The staff was so rude and arrogant, acting as of we did not belong. There was no greeting, no checking up on us while dining, and no apologies for the coffee they served that came out with cream that was curdled. The food was decent and the 2nd coffee they brought happened to be delicious, but we will never go back. We noticed that after we sat down, they were turning certain people away saying that only hotel guests could eat there, which was false because we were not hotel guests. The manager eyed people up and down and made decisions on who to sit based on his opinion if your appearance. Such a disgrace.

We decided to choose this luxury hotel with a beautiful view of the Piazza di Santa Maria Novella for our one night in Florence before traveling to the countryside of Tuscany and we are so glad that we dd! Sylvia greeted us with an offer for complementary Prosecco upon arrival and tiled us to our room with the amazing view of the piazza, with beautiful fruit and personal expresso machine. We were in close proximity to many restaurants, Ponte Vecchio, and shopping. Fabio, Carlos, Alvin, and in the restaurant, Zach and Carolina were all above and beyond in their excellent service and made us feel at home. Our stay included a sit down gourmet breakfast our our choice and we had drinks from the bar delivered to our room. Our new home away from home. BRAVO the Place. We would love to visit again . Do not hesitate to stay here.

The highlight of our Italian adventure started and ended at The Place Firenze. Claudio the concierge took care of us before we arrived and made us feel like the gorgeous hotel was our home away from home. Rooms are spacious and comfortable and the common areas are dreamy. Decor stunning and we could not have been more well taken care of. We had an early departure (4:30am!) and they insisted on making coffee before we left and packed breakfast on the go. Would 100% recommend.

Let me just preface with we stayed at The Place when it was called JK place, about ten years ago. We had the most spectacular time then, that is why we returned here. Unfortunately we did not have the same experience. I know they are close to the train station but travelling in July when it is hot, I decided to get a transfer from them. I know. Lazy. The driver was late, he had out train time and number, the meeting place where we were supposed to meet, he wasn’t there. We were just going to start to walk there when the driver called me. A short ride indeed. Upon check in our room wasn’t ready yet and as per last time we were offered a drink, we chose Prosecco. We were supposed to have a room upgrade by the way and through our agent who booked us. The room was small by all means. The bathroom beautiful. The shower was excellent. The bed comfortable but small. The breakfast awesome. The location great. The staff, cold. I had emailed the place about our stay when it was JK place and they had offered me a 10% discount. When I brought this up it was like a major incident. I felt like I was told, well you get to stay here and that should be the gift itself. We asked about nearby restaurants and the staff wasn’t knowledgeable or just wanted us to eat there, granted the food was delicious. Would I stay there again? No.

Yes all the superlatives apply in this discrete boutique hotel. Also very conveniently located, near the station, on the beautiful Piazza, and a short trot to all the main attractions! Staff all delightful, particularly the front of house/concierge for whom nothing was too much trouble, and they had wonderful local advice on eateries and places to go. My only small negative (which i told the hotel) was the breakfast service which went all a bit slow and chaotic with the 2 hardworking waitresses disappearing for long periods - i asked if they were making the breakfast too?! but that aside the food was excellent and the waiting staff lovely. Room sizes and aspect vary hugely - some looked very internal. so i would be choosey and avoid the cheaper rooms. But we will definitely stay here again
