Il Granduca was the closest to the city 3* hotel for this price. It's located 2 km from the railway station (you can get there by buses 11 and 17 for 1.2 Eur, the bus stop is 2 blocks from the hotel). We had heavy luggage and took a taxi. Knowing that the distance is about 10 km we expected...

The hotel is situated in a particularly quiet neighborhood but still very close to the Duomo. The staff was extremely helpful and understanding, the room was kept clean every day and the price-service ratio is great.

Booked for our first visit to Florence. Staff very welcoming and helpful, hotel clean and comfortable. Good location within walking distance of the historic centre yet far enough out to ensure a peaceful night's sleep. Good selection for breakfast and tasty coffee. Happy to recommend the hotel :)

This hotel was noisy at night with people coming and going at all times. The bed was incredibly uncomfortable with pillows that could break your neck !! As for the shower it was possibly the smallest shower I have ever come across!! A child would have had difficulty washing in it. Breakfast was adequate but make sure you get there...

This was a surprise 21st birthday present to go to Florence on a long weekend break! And I was completely oblivious of what to expect! From going to italy lots of times before the bar was high! From landing at the air port we straight away got on the next bus that took us into centre Florence! This took about...

To visit Florence this hotel is a good choose. Close to the duomo enought ( about 10 minutes walk) it is not in the heart of the old town. If you come by car for example, you can find car park and go in front of the entrance with your own veicole, which is not easy in Florence. Good price,...

The pictures in the website are a SCAM!!! This place seriously needs some renovation. There are mould marks on all walls and it really needs some paint. The bathroom is as big as a phone box with no windows. The price is outrageously high for the quality offered. We spent 99 € and the overall service is way lower compared...

We choose this hotel because of the secure parking. The hotel staff are friendly and extremely helpful. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Breakfast is mainly cake and coffee - but enough to start the day with. The walk from the hotel into the centre of Florence is simple and takes about 15 minutes. This hotel is definitely value for...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The pleasant atmosphere of this residential area, a stone’s throw away from the Duomo of Florence, surprises everyone. A continuous flow of backpacking students provides the tranquil surroundings for the elderly residents who sit in Piazza San Marco to read the daily newspaper. Home to several universities, including the Academy of Fine Arts, San Marco is one of the most vibrant cultural centers in the city. A bridge connecting the modern cultural activity of Florence to its classic art, represented by the everlasting magnificence of the original David, resonates as a symbol of Florence and of Italy as a whole. Get lost in a Neoclassic world, a journey back in time through historic buildings like Spedale degli Innocenti (Hospital of the Innocents), San Marco church, Basilica della Santissima Annunziata, and natural jewels like the Botanical Gardens.
