The Hotel Delle Nazioni was a very nice hotel. If there is one word that I would use to describe this hotel it would be "convenient". The location is convenient, the free internet is convenient, the breakfast is convenient, etc. The staff was also polite and helpful. On our tour we met some ladies traveling on the same tour as...

Fantastic hotel - Got dropped off by the Terrorvision bus @ the station, crossed the road and checked in. Could not have been any easy! Hotel was lovely and clean. Room and bathroom were big enough for the 2 of us. We were in an appartment which has a kitchen, dining room area, balcony and a computer - great with...

I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights after spending 6 days in Rome. As the previous review indicated, the hotel turned out to be better than what I expected. There are a couple minor problems but nonetheless it was a pretty okay experience. The hotel is located right next to the S. Maria Novelle Stazione on the left side....

Having had this hotel recommended by a friend, I was slightly put off when I read some negative reviews of it on this site. The Delle Nazioni turned out to be better than I expected. The hotel was fully refurbished inside with friendly English speaking staff. The room was basic, but modern and clean. The bathroom was again clean, however...

My daughter and I stayed at the Delle Nazioni for five days booked through "-----". We were more than happy with our stay. The hotel is very conveniently located as you can walk to just about anywhere in Florence. Upon arrival by train we were able to locate the hotel by following directions from a prior posting. We were in...

Loved the location (close to the termini), had internet for free in the lobby. The room was a decent size. My biggest problem was the bathroom. It was oddly arranged with the toilet close to the shower and a large person would have some problems with the spacing. We stayed there for 70 euro a night for 2 nights. But...

I was immediatly turned off by the stained, dirty looking carpet. It was very warm even though it was in Nov. We opened the windows but the mosquitos swarmed in. The shower was a hole in the floor in the corner of the bathroom with a shower curtain. The beds were clean, at least I think they were. When the...

Having read some reviews of this hotel we, as pensioners, were rather apprehensive about tales of "dodgy characters" and "threatening transients" in the vicinity of the hotel. However we have just returned from 6 days at the Della Natione and at no time did we feel unsafe or threatened, we also found the Duomo to be a 7 minute walk...

For it's its price and classification, this hotel is above average. Nice and big rooms. Near Stazione, SMN which is a big plus. Near shopping center, the Duomo. Breakfast is good with lots of selection. Internet access is free. Will definitely recommend this hotel to budget traveler. Staff are friendly and speaks English.

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights in July 2005. We chose it because we were travelling in and out of Florence by train, and for that reason it was a good choice. Tip: if you arrive by train, make sure you leave the station by the exit on the right as you come off the platform. We...

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
