Amazingly located hotel directly opposite the Duomo - the balcony views are amazing! I stayed in a single room with balcony views which was no thrills but had everything you needed in it for a comfortable stay and was always well cleaned. European 2 pin / Italian 3 pin plug close enough to the bed to be used from there. Towels and toiletries were provided in the bathroom as well as a hair dryer. Air con is also provided in rooms. Didn't have breakfast or eat at the restaurant but it seemed popular with other guests. Staff were friendly and happy to help with any questions I had, also provided a useful tourist map of the city upon checking in, reception was also 24 hour. Hotel is located on the 4th floor of a large building but is accessible (including wheelchair accessible) via a quaint looking lift. Not sure if it is a temporary thing due to ongoing world affairs but the price was discounted (13% i think) if you paid in cash. There is also hand sanitiser at reception and masks are to be worn in public parts of the hotel (If you're reading this when the world is a little more normal it won't be relevant!) A 10 minute walk away from Santa Maria Novella Train Station along the main road leading towards the Duomo.
One disadvantage of having a room overlooking the most popular attractions of the city is that it could be quite loud outside until the nearby restaurants (including the hotels) shut at around 11pm. The shower in the room was also quite narrow, whilst not an issue for myself personally or someone with an average/small build, someone of a larger build may find it a little too narrow for comfort. I should note I was staying in a single room and this doesn't seem to be an issue in the larger rooms.
Overall an enjoyable stay in an unbeatable location in the city, I would happily stay again!

In these lock-down times we would like to share a positive review of our 3 night stay in Hotel Duomo in the end of summer 2020.
The hotel was very easy to find and it was in the best position next to Dome. The hotel itself was on the higher floor, reached straight from the lift. The reception was quite small, clean with a lot of Tuscan details. There was a lot of Anti-bacterial gel and cleaning protection. Mask had must be worn all the time in the public areas.
We had a room with a partial Dome view, placed pretty close to the reception. It wasn’t too noisy though. The room was big enough with a classy design. There were little scratches on the walls and on the furniture. The bathroom was large, new and very nice. The towels were changed regularly and the toiletries were also supplied. The bed was very comfortable and A/C was working fine. Internet in our room was faultless. There was a small fridge but no kettle (in the bar you could have coffee whenever though). The balcony had a view to the opposite building and partly to the Dome’s campanile. The balcony was a bit close to the kitchen. We spent a lovely evening on the balcony there. In the room, there were no wine glasses in the room, but when we had asked the reception there was no problem to have proper ones from the bar, and also helped us to open our wine. The only criticism is, that the plant pots on the balcony were empty or with the dry dead plants. It would make the whole experience better if there are some simple living flowers.
Breakfast were great too. If you wanted to sit outside you better to came earlier as the tables were always occupied. So many different flavours, everybody could pick anything to satisfy them. It was worthy to pay an extra for breakfast.
We would happily return to Hotel Duomo. The hotel offered a great service, comfortable rooms for adequate price and unbeatable position to all must-see sights!

The hotel is ideally located within an easy walk of all the important historical and art locations, as well as near many excellent restaurants. Reception is on the fourth floor and the elevator is a classic small lift that will accommodate only two people with luggage. The staff are very friendly and speak excellent English. Breakfast is buffet style and the food was good, though the choices are somewhat limited. Coffee, red wine, vin santo and cookies are available on a self serve basis 24/7. If you want an aperitivo you have to ask the desk clerk; there is a stocked bar but the hotel does not have a bartender. The hotel was undergoing remodeling while we were there and the updated rooms were nicely appointed. The bathroom had a nice shower and was a decent size for one person at a time. The bed and pillows were very comfortable and housekeeping did a good job refreshing the room daily. Some rooms are either up or down a set of stairs from reception but the staff will help with luggage if needed. We checked out early in the morning so there were no tourists on the Piazza del Duomo and the taxi came right to the front door of the hotel. Coming from the airport the area around the Duomo was packed with tourists so the taxi dropped us off across the piazza and we had a short walk with our bags; not a problem for us but travelers with mobility issues might be challenged. The cost was very reasonable especially in light of the proximity to everything we wanted to see and do. The hotel offers discounted deals on its website, but be sure to read the terms because some of the deals have strict terms regarding payment, cancellation, etc. Overall we were very pleased with the hotel, would stay there again and would highly recommend it.

I liked staying at the Hotel Duomo Firenze and would stay there again. The location is perfect and the views of the Basilica are amazing. The Basilica is literally next to this Hotel.
You get to the lobby and your rooms by taking a small 3 person elevator from the street level up 4 floors.
The staff are very friendly and helpful.
The hotel is clean.
There is a bar for happy hour and a good breakfast with a nice variety of foods and beverages.
The rooms at the top (4th) level (room 31) has an impressive view, a small deck area and is very quiet, but the rooms on the 3rd level (26) are larger and nicer...and the view is just as amazing. The rooms on the 3rd level are noisier, mainly from the hall, not the street.
You couldn't stay in a better location.

Great location, great price. No frills to speak of but the staff was very nice and helpful and it felt very, very safe as the reception desk is on the 4th floor (the lift was very helpful) and someone was at the desk 24 hours a day. Great location, can see the Duomo and hear the bells, but the doors to the balcony were surprisingly noise proof -- when closed, all the street noise disappeared ! Would stay here again

Hotel Duomo was the perfect location for our stay. The room was spotless and our view of the Duomo was magnificent- seemed as if we could reach out the window and touch it! At breakfast each morning we were greeted with a smile- what a nice way to start the day. The hotel has a lovely terrace to sit and have breakfast while looking at the beautiful Duomo. The breakfast was delicious. We were walking distance to everything we wanted to see and do- the train station is even walking distance. It was the perfect location and such a lovely staff.

We booked for the Monday 10th to Thursday 13th October having stayed in Pisa the night before. The hotel is a short walk from the train station, we had small cabin bags so not a major hassle but if you have bigger suitcases, it may be worth getting a taxi. We arrived well before the checking time and just wanted to dump the bags but the room was ready and with no hassle we were checked in by the amazingly friendly reception staff. We had booked a room with a view and had number 24. What a view!! Floor to ceiling double windows overlooking the Santa Maria del Fiore, it was great having them open and listening to the world go by. Noise was not an issue because of the double glazing. Our room was a spacious double, clean & tidy with plenty of hanging space, mini bar and a safe. The bathroom suited our needs plenty of clean towels. We didn't book breakfast but ate there twice in the small dining room, which had a little terrace with a view of the Duomo. 11 euro each and well worth it. Plenty of coffee, homemade pie, ham carved in front of you and a glass of wine or vin Santo if you fancy a morning perk up ( I did ). There was always a pot of coffee brewing a bottle of wine opened during the day, you just helped yourself. I almost forgot to mention the little hotel dog, Leone, who was so friendly and loved a cuddle. This is a wonderful hotel with a lot of character and charm. It's a perfect base to explore the incredible city, all the main attractions are within walking distance.

The best hotel with sweetest staff. They were able to provide great recommendations for food and sights in the area. Room was newly renovated and met all of our standards. The hotel staff went above and beyond to please their guests. Upon taking a survey after our first night, the staff went out of their way to locate extra pillows without even asking (pillows weren’t even a complaint just a note to hotel that the bed could use additional pillows). The hotel is in a great location centrally located to major walking sights and walking distance to train station (even with luggage). The rooftop deck for breakfast also had stunning views.

The hotel is next to the Duomo. We stayed in room 31 which had a balcony overlooking the Duomo. The staff is friendly, efficient and helpful. There was always someone at the desk to help us with any questions we had about the hotel or area.

The location is perfect for walking to most of the tourist sites

Breakfast was plentiful with lots of options and great coffee. It was a wonderful stay and we would stay there again.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in room 31. The views were fantastic. We had a lovely informative welcome from Francesca. Claudio was very helpful booking our tours with a local company who were very interesting & passionate about their subjects. We were able to help ourselves to coffee & water all day even though we were not having breakfast. The room was spotlessly clean & the bed comfortable. There is street noise when the balcony door is open but it is music being played or singing so quite delightful to hear. When the balcony doors are closed & the air con is on you don't hear it. Florence is an amazing place to visit & I would highly recommend staying here in room 31 for the spectacular views & also the company of the very small friendly dog!!

Dear FarAway78, Thank you for contacting us. The hotel relies on an external professional clening/drying service. They come at the hotel, pick-up your stuff and deliver in 24 hours. The service is not available on saturday and sunday. Other than that there are plenty of coin operated machines around the hotel for self service. Best regards. Dorian

Dear, thank you for your question. Unfortunately, from no window of the hotel you can see the "scoppio del carro", not even from the balcony, this because this is almost completely hidden by the entrance facade of the same cathedral. From the balcony, however, the upper part of the fireworks and the smoke they cause are clearly visible. I hope I was helpful Luca
