Given that our arrival into Florence was delayed by 6 hours and that arriving at an unknown hotel at 3:30 in the morning does not usually bode well, we were extremely pleasantly surprised to be greeted with a warm welcome and much sympathy by the night porter who quickly saw us settled into our room. As per prior reviews, it...

Unique two story layout for a triple room that provides a view from the room of the Duomo and the bell tower. A perfect image to fall asleep to. Other than the layout, the room was a typical european hotel. The breakfast was pretty simple but when in Italy and snacking throughout the day not much was needed. Mainly croissants...

Dear delaneymb, Thank you very much for your review! We are really glad to learn that you enjoyed your stay. Not all of our triple rooms are on two stories, and not all of them have a view - so you were lucky! We are very happy to read that you liked the room we gave you. As I wrote...

Having just left Florence and the Hotel Bigallo, I can honestly say that I thoroughly enjoyed every minute. The staff at the hotel were informative and helpful. Others had complained about the breakfast but it was more than ample. The area was fantastic, however we had the misfortune of staying on a Saturday night and the noise from people screaming...

Went to hotel Bigallo with my parents to celebrate mum's 65th birthday in Florence. The location is the best, just a few meters from Piazza Duomo. The staff was helpful and friendly, the hotel pretty and clean. The rooms were spacious and quiet. Breakfast is continental but with nice choice of cakes, toast, croissants and cold meats. I would definitely...

What a brilliant location. Hotel is ok and the staff were very helpful. The carpark that was advertised with it is about 100 meters away. Breakfast was minimal but can't complain because it was a very reasonable price. an excellent point to discover the beautiful city of Florence so don't be planning lots of time in the hotel.

Staying in Duomo

Neighbourhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
