Lovely family run hotel in a great location, close to the train station and the Duomo. Room was comfortable although the bathroom was a bit small. Simple breakfast was included, plus nice touches like free refills of your own water bottles with still or sparking water.

This is a 3 star hotel, but provided everything we needed. We were only sleeping there as so much to do in
florence, so why spend time in your room.
Short walk with suitcases from the train station. Reception is up two flights of stairs, with no lift. But on our departure staff helped with our suitcases down the stairs.
Good location to the other famous sights too.
We went on many day trips so used the bus and trains, so was very close to the station.
We were in room 7, on the same floor as the reception. This room was on the front of the street, but very very quiet. This was adequate for our 3 night stay.
A good shower with good strong flow of water.
Basic toiletries provided and hair dryer in the bathroom
Tv, Wi-Fi and air con in the room,

The decor is very traditional with dark wood, in the dining room has English equestrian pictures/ painting scenes.
In our bathroom part of the ceiling had the paint chipped away to expose original paint, which was very interesting.

Good breakfast - bread and jams, meat and cheese, scrambled egg, bacon and frankfurter sausages.
Only 1 pillow per person , but asked for another and was delivered straight away.

Not many plug sockets, so could do to be updated, but this is a very old building so might be difficult.

There is no outside space or garden/patio area.
The staff were very helpful, full English spoken by all. Any of our requests was not a bother to them at all.
All in all a very enjoyable stay

We stayed here because my parents stayed roughly 20 years ago when they visited Florence and they recommended it as they still have fond memories of the place. It has a fantastic location close to the train station. Staff was incredibly friendly. The free breakfast had many options. Our room was very clean. They also let us leave our bags there after we checked out so that we didn’t have to carry them around all day before we left Florence on a late train. It fit all of our needs perfectly at a great price.

It was such a fantastic place for my mother and me. Thanks to all the staff for doing everything to make us feel at home.
The place is close to the station but is lactated on a quiet street and is close to all major attractions within a walking distance 15-20 minutes.
The interior of the hotel and rooms are corresponding to the city atmosphere and are very clean.
Our room was spacious and very comfortable.
The breakfast included all you need.
The staff was very helpful and polite.
We stayed for a week and I highly recommend the place..for short or long stays!

Good location, only 5 minutes from the train station , a few minutes from the main food market and all the sights. It was clean and tidy and very nice. It offered a good breakfast and the staff were friendly and helpful. Our room wasn’t massive but more than comfortable, the only issue for some was it didn’t have a lift so getting suitcases up the stairs may not be for everyone1

We had a lovely stay at Hotel Mario’s - it’s in a great central location and only a 5 minute walk from the train station. Very friendly service, room had a nice traditional Italian feel to it, and the breakfast was lovely. Would recommend a visit here.

Stayed for 4 nights recently and found the hotel ideal for a short break. Very close to the train station and a short walk down Via Faenze into town. With plenty of bars and restaurants on the way. Try upstairs in the market for great street food.
The host was polite and helpful and the room was clean and quiet. Would definitely recommend for the price.

This was a complete dump. The room was extremely dirty, the "bed" was so uncomfortable we could not sleep at all, and the location couldn't be worse. Even worse than all of that, it wasn't that cheap. Regardless of the price though, do not stay here! The staff will not accommodate any of your requests and will only make excuses. When we complained about all of the bugs, we were told that Florence is a low lying city so we should expect bugs in our room. We planned on staying 4 days, but stayed one night and left for another city. This terrible hotel ruined our Florence experience all together. The only way we survived this doomed trip to Florence was to spend our day on the beautiful rooftop of the Continental Hotel. Spend the extra money and stay at the Continental Hotel if you want to enjoy a wonderful city without bugs and rude staff. To be clear....do NOT stay at Hotel Mario's under any conditions! You will be disapointed as we were.

Our recent stay was very disappointing. We found worms in one of our beds and on the floor. Night staff helped us clean it up and we asked the next morning that the room/ bed be thoroughly cleaned. By the next evening, the bedding had not been changed and the worms were back. We were given a new room. The owner, who was called in at night to clean our room was very angry at us and insisted the room had been cleaned but night staff confirmed the sheets had not been changed. Problems happen, I understand, but they would not take responsibility for it, did not clean it up the first time, and implied we were lying about the room not being cleaned (until night staff stood up for us.) In another bed, we both had bed bug bites around feet, ankles and hands. Owners denied it, saying hotel was sprayed. Well, spray did not work. We stayed 6 nights so it had to be from their bed. Eduardo, Fredrico, and their mother, 3 of 4 family owners, were unfriendly and never smiled once, that we saw, even before the worm incident. All night staff were wonderful, however. Their attitude about the problem we had was unacceptable. Worms in guest beds is unacceptable, and their failure to acknowledge, apologize, or even clean up until we became insistent (and got help from other staff) was the most unacceptable of all. The owners acted like they were angry with us about this, making it a very uncomfortable stay. They did give us a 10% discount, but without a word of apology, or polite words of farewell.
I am sorry to even write this feedback because we have loved this hotel for years, but the old owner, Mario, is gone, and this is not the same place. Would not recommend and will not return. We will have to look for another "home away from home" in Florence.
I gave them 2 stars for location and wonderful night staff, but sadly, that's not enough to return.

We stayed at Mario's for a couple of nights earlier this month. The hotel is centrally located and not far from the train station. The rooms are comfortable, warm (it was freezing in Florence), and spacious (for european standards). I also loved the stained glass windows (very nice touch).

Breakfast was plentiful and the coffee/espresso was made to order.

My only regret is not meeting Leonardo as he was the most helpful member of the staff. He was very kind and curteous reserving the Uffizi and Academia at the best times of the day. Be sure to ask for him when you visit.

Florence, Italy
Dear Alexander, getting to the Hotel is extremely easy, all you need to do is to follow the directions to Santa Maria Novella train station. Just so you are not disappointed upon arrival, it's been a long time since we last saw the Princess.. but keep your hopes high! Our only toaster does toast, and it does quite efficiently. At your disposal for any other question. Stefano
