Hotel Annalena is a beautiful historical hotel, which impresses their guests with its original architecture. Some rooms have balconys and great views into a garden. The location is also great, a little offside the crowd, but still central. Historical places, churches and restaurants are close. By the way: the cappuccino served at breakfast is sooo good ;-)

Hotel's Favourite
The Annalena is a classic Florentine pensione and all the better for it. Don’t expect a swanky foyer or even a lift to reception on the first floor. Do expect welcoming staff, a charming and large reception hall, and quiet rooms. First and foremost what I want from a hotel is a good night’s sleep and the Annalena delivers. Our bed was comfortable although I found I had to work at the pillow to get it to the right thickness. But at least I did, which I so often fail to in other hotels in Europe. The room was warm despite the fact it froze outside on our last night, the hot water plentiful and the towels big and cuddly. Breakfast was a decent buffet with excellent coffee. Whether you consider the furniture quaint or shabby will depend on your frame of mind and willingness to see what’s good about the Annalena. At 6’2” I found the bathroom and shower cramped but functional. I did like our little terrace where we ate a picnic lunch one today but next time will try a garden room. The Annalena is excellent value for money, adjacent to the Boboli gardens, and a reasonable walk into the main centre of Florence. It’s plain and simple and a little tired but does everything you want. And I can’t speak too highly of the staff. I’d stay here again without hesitation.

Beware, Annalena hotel is SCAM, - Start from the beginning of your journey until the sad end. Did you ever hear about street hidden cameras in Via Romana (the street where the hotel exist) those hidden cameras will take a photo of your car license plate and will issue you a (Multa) violation ticket for 100 euro this charge will be added to your bill at the end of your stayed – this dirty scam is not just done one time, no its done in every time you drive your rental car to go to that rip-off Hotel, there are many other swindle tricks played by the Hotel owner Mr. Andrea Magherini to over charge me for using the Wi-Fi which supposed to be free also try to avoid using the TV everything here cost money this are some of the scams they pull it out on the foreigners - Furthermore if I could give that rip of Hotel 0 star I would but the system doesn’t allow me to do so.

... and by God I've been travelling all continents for 50 years. I began coming here while discovering Firenze - having been a student there during the 1970s - in the early 80s. The hotel covers the first floor (2nd, American) of a lovely Renaissance palace, opposite the Giardini Boboli. And after a thrilling but serious day of viewing the inimitable treasures of this city, what better way to reflect on, and absorb, them than to sit on the terrace at the back of this lovely building, overlooking a quiet floral garden. Florence has change since then - more crowded - but the quality of this hotel, and the care with which it is operated by successive managements, remains at the same, highest, standard. Traditional, tasteful, stylish, unimpressed by change for its own pointless sake, the establishment oozes class, and elegance, but is entirely unpretentious in the way of more expensive, less delightful institutions. I return whenever I can, to Firenze, did so recently, and am returning again soon, with gratitude. The highest recommendation possible. Grazie, Annalena.

My room was small but comfortable. Breakfast was 12 euros; mostly pastries and I was looking for healthier options. I've hardly ever been charged for breakfast while traveling in Europe so it was a surprise to be charged here. The person who made the booking also didn't realize it wasn't included (he probably wasn't paying attention). At check-in the receptionist mentioned breakfast; that would have been a good moment to make it clear that it wasn't included.

Dear Guest, Thanks for the appreciation of our structure! Regarding breakfast, we apologize if the operator did not remind you that it was not included .. in our defense we tell you that you booked the room without breakfast (being more cheaper than the one with breakfast included)! :-) I am sure that both you and we will certainly pay more attention next time. Best Regards Reception_Hotel Annalena
