We stayed here for 2 nights and thought it was great. It took us a while to find the place (we didn't read about the check in at alternate venue) but once that was done all was good. We were over the moon about AC, the room was good, functional and so central to everything in Florence! We were a...

We picked Residence La Repubblica for 1 night in Florence prior to getting on our Mediterranean cruise. We wanted to cover more of Florence by doing a transfer tour from FCO airport to Florence with stops in Tuscany along the way with Joe Banana Limos. However a few of us in the group had the misfortune of having pur flight...

Ideally situated and charming studio with lovely renaissance ceilings and direct view of the lively Piazza della Reppublica. Close to everything. However, the location comes with a price, hotel reception and parking facilities are far away and the square can be noisy. Also the elevator in this old building makes the whole room shake when used (luckily not too often...

This was by far our favorite place to stay during our 2 week Italian vacation. Forget all the "confusing reception desk" reviews. If you do your homework and are prepared for the 2 locations, which are not very far from each other, it really is no big deal. Before leaving for Italy I Mapquested the "walk" from the train station...

We arrived at de Lanzi to check in. Everything seemed fine, but when we got to the apartment we realized the hotel had given our escort only one room key. It's an electronic key that you need to open the building door, to exit the elevator corridor, and to access your room. One key among four people just isn't enough,...

My husband and I rented an apartment for 4 days in April. Check in is at the hotel and then they walk you over to the apartment. Location would be hard to beat. In the centre of the historical district and about a 10-15 minute walk to anything you want to see. Loads of restaurants in the area if you...

We are very grateful to the "Hotel De Pucci" who cancelled our reservation and refunded us at the last minute after they found they could get more money for their rooms due to a fashion expo. This brought us to the Residence La Repubblica . This newly renovated , 3 bedroom 2 storey apartment is elegantly decorated . The building...

Great apartment in perfect location for exploring Florence. The place was clean, large, and had all of the important amenities (washing machine, dish washer, stove). This comes in handy for cooking as eating out in Florence is very expensive! One worry I had was that all of the noise in the piazza repubblica would be troublesome. The windows were very...

Staying at Piazza Republicca is the perfect location to see all the sites in Florence. We greatly enjoyed having an apartment because breakfasts in Italy are generally bad, and we were able to buy and cook American breakfast. It was a five minute walk from the Uffizzi Gallery and the river, plus the streets were closed to cars on the...

2 adults & 2 young children (3 & 9 months). The check in process is frustrating, having to go to Hotel De Lanzi - MORE than just a few steps from the property. We buzzed at the front door of the Apartments and a man from the hotel came and helped us with our luggage up the stairs to the...

Staying in Duomo

Neighbourhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
