Awful. 100% an absolutely, trip-ruining experience. My girlfriend, myself, and two of our relatives visited Florence together for a short two-day stay. This was our second time staying close to the Duomo, so we were somewhat familiar with what to expect from a room around this price range; in terms of comfort and amenities. AKA, we expected nothing extravagant; maybe...

Perfect location. Great sightseeing base and a definite travellers type hotel. No frills but very very clean. Exceptionally helpful staff. Fantastic value. Ten minute walk from the bus station, Domo, Uffizi etc. Lovely roof terrace with great views. No need to slog up towers! I suggest ear plugs. It is in the city centre! Could not fault it for the...

As a frequent traveler I do not expect much of hotels anymore, especially if I just book a low-star hotel. Usually I am faced with horrible rooms and disgusting service attitude. To be honest, it's the same in most of the 5-star hotels just the attitude is even worst ;-) The staff of Hotel Medici simply blow me away. They've...

We stayed in this hotel last December 22 to 25, 2015. The location is perfect as it is in the center. Just 7 euros for the taxi from the station. Our room is on the 5th floor with a very nice view of the Cattedrale Santa Maria del Fiore-meaning you hear the bells everytime it rings, from 7AM then every...

we didn´t stay in the hotel we´ve booked. They changed us to Hotel Medici. The bathrooms didn´t have a bathtub, just a grid on the ground beside the toilet. We complainted and they gave us 3 room keys to go for ourselvs to see if we liked the other rooms. Found one with a square shower with a curtain and...

A 5 star experience all around !! Beautiful view from our balcony of Florence in a gorgeous setting . Steps away from all the beauty of this wonderful city. The staff was warm friendly and caring doing everything they could to make our stay amazing . A special thank you to the staff in the lobby who cared enough to...

The city and location were great, but that is about all I can say positive about our stay at this hotel. Our family booked 3 rooms and only got 2 in a building several blocks away. The breakfast consisted of stale rolls with packages of butter and jam. The coffee came from a machine with powdered milk - one of...

I've read reviews of this hotel that weren't flattering. Don't believe them! I've stayed here 4 or 5 times and I've never been disappointed! If you know how to travel in Europe and have figured out it's not the land of Holiday Inn, you will realize what a great hotel the Medici is! Great location, clean and welcoming. If you...

If location is your priority, then this is a perfect hotel. It's an easy walk from the train station, right next to the Duomo, and close to just about everywhere you want to go in Florence. It was exactly what we needed since we were travelling with a 6-month old and didn't want to waste any time going back and...

Being honest, the location of the hotel is ecxellent! you can visit easily not only all the historical areas but all the cafeterias and restaurants (including the worst and the best). But for three nights, i paid 220 euro plus 7,50 euro for taxes in cash. When i made the reservation in booking.com i didn't find an announcement anout it...About...

Staying in Duomo

Neighbourhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
