From the moment we got into the hotel, the service was wonderful. The rooms have high ceilings and the breakfast buffet is phenomenal. One night, after coming home from a lovely walk along the water, we stopped by the bar for a drink. The bartender was SO friendly and treated us very well and made us feel special, comfortable, and...

On arrival at the NH Anglo American, after an approximate 20 minute walk from Santa Maria Novella Station, we were greeted by friendly and helpful staff at Reception. Our room was pretty spacious, with a nice bathroom, and air con. WiFi was available but it would "time out" every now again - but you can get new usernames and passwords...

Great hotel for a short stay. Superior room stylish and had an enormous bed in a room with air conditioning. Bathroom had a very narrow bath even for a normal sized person but shower over was good. Breakfast was okay.

This hotel is a very nice example of a hotel with all of the conveniences of a modern hotel and with all of the charm of Italy. Our room had an incredible 11 or 12 foot ceiling (I can't jump that high) and had a wood sculptured headboard. Just being in the room, you felt that you were in Europe....

We stayed here as it seemed to be relatively good value for a 4* hotel, but it's rating is a little optimistic and is maybe a 3 at best. We arrived at 11:30 and didn't expect to be able to check-in until 2pm as advertised, but were told to come back at 3pm instead. We moved from our first room...

This was an average hotel and on a whole I have found the hotels in Italy not up to the standard of the rest of Europe. Room was clean but average, service fair and breakfast disappointing. Would not stay there again

Florence is a small city and almost anywhere you are you in the centre or very close. NH Anglo American is within walking distance from all the important places in Florence. The rooms are good and comfortable. Our room even had a balcony although we did not have much use for it. Still, it is nice to have. Breakfast is...

We stayed in this Hotel for 3 Nights end of May over the Bank holiday , Ideal for a city break in a good location easy walking to all the main attractions and good restaurants. Good breakfast choice staff very helpful. Rooms rather tired looking ,compact and small bathroom. Hotel needs updating and a facelift.

Wonderful hotel within easy walk of all that Florence has to offer. Rooms are of varying size and quality. I was part of a group and my room was not among the best. Outstanding breakfast buffet! Would definitely stay again and hope for better luck on room.

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
