My daughter and I stayed here in August for a few days. We had been travelling around Italy and this was the hotel booked by the travel operator I used. The hotel is nice enough... staff are okay and the breakfast was just alright. Nothing spectacular. Ordinarily I wouldn't mind coming back here but something happened that I feel other...

I choose this Hotel for my Fiancé & I as it was close to the train station. It is only about a 5 minute walk to the heart of Florence from the Hotel. There have been comments on the rooms being a bit dated, but I believe this gave it more character than the standard modern hotel look. The rooms...

This hotel looks a little drab upon first entering. Actually it's fine. Good enough room with all bathroom luxuries, shower, bidet. We had shutters on outside and blackout curtains at the window of the room as its a busy road outside. Breakfast is good, not vast, but good. Toast, ham, cheese, pastries, etc. coffee, tea, which is served to you...

The hotel is just 2 mins away walking fro the station, in the town centre just behind Sanat Maria Novella Church, so location is really good. Staff were friendlt and accomodating. The rooms we stayed in (a single and a double) were really clean, bed confortable, with TV, air conditioning. Bathroom really clean as well. The only downside is breakfast,...

Good standard of hotel, full of character - very clean! We had a nice double room with its private balcony, minibar, good standard bathroom. The first thing that strikes me in this hotel was the old fashion style, with metal key that you need to drop at reception when you go out (reception opens from 6am to 1am), and the all wooden furniture. The room was clean and the bed confortable though it was really 2 mattresses sticked together so you can't sleep in...

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Hotel Boccaccio is in the heart of the historic city centre, a stone's throw from the railway station, from Piazza Duomo and from the Church of Santa Maria Novella. The extremely recent and diligent re-structuring, valorized by the original Carrara marble, has made the presence of more modern comforts possible harmoniously combined with the authentic Florentine style.
