This hotel fronts onto a lovely square so no traffic outside and 8 mins walking from the Dumo centre. The hotel upgraded us to a suite when they found out it was my friends birthday, they then sent up complementary champagne and chocolates - such a great gesture! The hotel is extremely clean and beautifully decorated, its one of those...

The Hotel is based at an exellent location in the city center, though it is really calm and offers kind of a little hideaway on the roof top terrace with pool. Service is really good and the stuff is helpful and accomodating. The support from reservations and front office with local recommendations and services was outstanding. The hotel itself was...

I booked the room non-refundable, $128 plus tax, buyer beware! The room was extremely small and hot. The view looked right onto a rooftop. I was told there was no air conditioner and no way to control the heat. My husband asked for an upgrade and we moved into a suite. This was a very nice room (€40 more per...

This is a perfectly delightful hotel in a great location. The hotel is about 5 minutes walk from the main station on Piazza Santa Maria. It's a lovely old building with views over the piazza. They were renovating when I was there but they were eager to explain this. The check in was very helpful. The receptionist i saw (I...

What a beautiful hotel, perfect location and facilities & everything was clean! We were able to walk around Florence at ease and then finish of with a nice dip in the roof top pool looking over the sky line. If I am ever in Florence again we will definitely be back. Thank you Hotel Minerva!

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
