We had read mixed reviews on here about this hotel which we had booked as part of a package. We were upgraded on arrival to a Junior Suite and liked the quirky character of our room. The hotel is an old palace full of interesting decorated rooms, and has an amazing salon where a reasonable buffet breakfast is served which... More

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights while in Florence. Positives: The view was simply amazing! Being able to see the Duomo from our room was the coolest thing! / Location: walking distance from the train, the Duomo, great restaurants / Roberta: while the staff wasn't necessarily overly friendly, Roberta was the nicest and most helpful front desk... I Loved this Hotel! We were a group of 6 on a week tour of Italy and stayed one night on Oct. 24 at this hotel booked by Amanda Tour. The check in was speedy and the female receptionist was very polite and helpful. The hotel is in good location but our rooms are so hot and the AC has been turned off for... More

Dear Guest, thank you very much for your feedback, it gives us the opportunity to clarify some points. At the time you stayed at our hotel, the air system was on winter mode, hot instead of cold air, because of the weather conditions of the period, the end of October. As regards your cashmere cardigan, our procedure is that when... More

We stayed in this hotel for 4 nights, it has its good points and it's negative. First of all the location is fantastic you really could not get more central in Florence literally a 5 min walk from the train/bus station which if you are flying into Pisa is only 50 min trip away. Check in was smooth and most... More

This is an old, old building inside the old city walls with ceilings that must be 12 ft high. The elevators are so small they can't really hold more than 2 people if they have luggage - and maybe not even that. The breakfast is good and the room has ceilings that must be at least 20-25 ft high with... More

Dear Guest, thank you very much for your feedback. I've been in Florence several times and this by far my favorite hotel in the city! Great central location (within easy walking distance to train station, sights, restaurants, shops, cafes, etc.) yet in a calm & quiet side street, gorgeous historic palace (you feel like being part of the florentine aristocracy staying here), authentic and functional decor with lots of... The hotel hides behind a narrow entrance, I walked right past the entrance when I first arrived for a five night stay. On entering there is a huge reception area and lounge. This hotel is an old palace beautifully. Rooms are decorated in a medieval way but the single rooms are extremely too small. Breafast roon is beautiful and the buffet is very good. The surroundings of the hotel have nice walking areas and good restaurants.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Hotel Boscolo Astoria Firenze is the ideal choice for your stay: you'll be accommodated in the rooms of the Palazzo Gaddi and Palazzo Arrighetti, historic buildings belonging to noble Florentine families, where art recounts the passage of centuries every step of the way. Indeed, it was while living at Palazzo Gaddi that the great English author John Milton found inspiration for his masterpiece, Paradise Lost, and in these very rooms that he wrote it. The noble past of Hotel Boscolo Astoria Firenze is also reflected in its location: the church of Santa Maria Novella, abounding in great art, is right nearby (as is the convenient railway station with the same name), and a short stroll will take you directly to Florence's historic centre. An undeniable advantage that puts the most beautiful areas of the city right at your fingertips. The prestigious salons of the luxury Hotel Boscolo Astoria Firenze, decorated in original Florentine Baroque style, are the perfect backdrop for important events. The restaurant will pamper you with typical Tuscany and Mediterranean dishes. ... more   less
