This was the loveliest place we stayed at during our whirlwind tour of northern Italy. It was so nice to relax and enjoy the room. Evening meal in the restaurant included a 20% discount for hotel guests. This was much appreciated. A renovated home of some heritage family.

We booked this hotel very last minute (the night before) looking for a 5-star hotel, and got a great rate ($250/night). This possibly made more of an impression than any of the rest.
It's a beautiful property and there was hardly anyone there which worried us a bit but that ended up adding to the appeal. Speaking of quiet, the hotel is a good 15 minute walk from the center of Florence so you do need to be into that, but that made parking there much easier than we heard it could be if we stayed somewhere else. We are two generally fit individuals and enjoyed the river walk and the quiet the hotel provided. If you end up needed the American embassy it's a block away! :)
We did not really have any interaction with the staff, but in my mind it was great we didn't need to - no complaints. The room was cute - kind of a mix of old Italy and modern here and there. Very spacious. The buffet is nothing special but they gave us a $20 coupon when we got there so made it not that expensive. It's not worth $30+ Euros. We didn't have dinner there or anything. We were not in the hotel much. Definitely worth what we paid!

Our stay with the hotel was fantastic. We booked it through Ariana and Friends and had a wonderful stay. The food, the service, the accommodations were excellent.
Warning, however, regarding having the hotel book transportation for you. We booked a van to take us to the train station upon departure (the hotel arranged it ahead of our trip). The train station is a five minute ride from the hotel, the driver instead took us for a 10 minute ride and the cost of the transportation was EU$ 75.

On arrival you think from the outside wow, what a beautiful hotel. We'll it's definitely not the case. We had an average stay and this hotel definitely doesn't deserve 5 stars at all.
Yes on check-in the staff are vety welcoming and friendly but (an here we go).
1) very bare, the hotel feels cold definitely not a warm feel.
2) Restaurant closed, vety misleading as when we booked it was advised as open.
3) Continental Breakfast/breakfast, you'd find better in a service station
4) bar area, the bartender is friendly but slow.. Wow
5) Room (suite) very worn in fact both rooms we had felt worn.
6) no air conditioning, the rooms extremely hot, yes we had to open the windows but the noise from outside we terrible.
7) quite far from the city centre.
Overall this is probably one of the worst hotels we've stayed in for many years and will definitely not be returning to it, I recommend the Westin, 4 seasons or Savoy. If not for my wife we would have checked out of the hotel our first night.
As for the manager or whoever replies to these messages don't bother, we are extremely upset with the misleading info provided to us about this hotel.

From the moment we walked through the door, Enrico greeted us and made us feel like we’d just arrived at our home for the next 10 days. The room was spectacular and had a spacious balcony overlooking the courtyard. The hotel is in a very nice residential area of Firenze and an easy walk to the Ponte Vecchio, restaurants, shopping , museums, and the historical sites in Firenze. All the staff at Palazzo Montebello were very kind and helpful. Housekeeping was very prompt in keeping our room and linens fresh and did an excellent job. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet every day and the dining room staff was so helpful, polite and catered to all our needs. One morning my wife was not feeling well and when I went down to the buffet, Ada, one of the wonderful servers, asked if my wife would be coming down. I explained that she did not feel well and Ada, without my requesting it, prepared a tray to take back to our room with fresh orange juice and the buffet items which she knew my wife liked. We highly recommend Palazzo Montebello as an excellent hotel when visiting Florence!

I recently stayed at this fantastic hotel in Firenze, just a short walk from the city center in a calm and authentic neighborhood. The location was perfect—close enough to easily reach all the major sights, but tucked away in a peaceful area that allowed for a more relaxed, local experience.
The hotel itself was beautifully designed, with comfortable rooms that offered a mix of modern amenities and classic Florentine style. I especially loved the serene atmosphere, which made it a great place to unwind after exploring the city.
The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, always ready with helpful recommendations. Drinks on the terrace was a highlight, with delicious options. If you’re looking for a place that combines convenience with a tranquil setting, this hotel is an excellent choice for your stay in Firenze.

My wife and I just finished a 4 night stay. The Palazzo Montebello is everything a luxury hotel should be. It is spacious, elegant and blissfully quiet. Our room was a fabulous small suite consisting of a sitting room with a spacious built-in desk, a perfectly sized bedroom, a dressing area and a double-sink bath. We were completely comfortable. The highest praise however goes to the hotel’s staff. They were always poised, professional, and gracious — a true pleasure to deal with. And they were extraordinarily helpful in helping us receive an important package from home that got caught in Italian customs — their efforts were above and beyond and we are forever grateful to them.

Stayed here on our trip through Italy. The first impression was nice. That ended at the barely friendly front desk guy. In general the room was nice. The issue was the bath room. The bath tub shower combo is straight out of the 80s. That would not have been the worst thing other than it was filthy. I let the staff know and expected something done. I was told latter that it was just old deal with it. I am pretty stubborn so I clean one of the jets to show it was not old just dirty. The front desk guy that told me it was old tried to back track after I showed pictures but said he cold not do anything as the room was pre-paid. They did take off one meal.

Terrible Hotel, no customer service, low quality breakfast. Rooms are old, moldy, dirty and dusty. Some rooms smell like sewer. Hot water is off and on so don’t be surprised if one day you don’t have hot water.

We just stayed for one night, but the hotel is truly a place one could enjoy for much longer. We booked one of their suites - it was two levels and struck a balance between old world glamour and modern technology. The lobby is gorgeous, the staff was nice and it is convenient to so much. We will be back.

It’s a 10 minute walk. Very easy and flat. Through the side streets to the hotel.
We had a tub in our room-the room had 2 twin beds and a balcony on the first floor
