This is my home in Florence. The rooms are modern and spacious, bathroom is big for European standards. I love that they have a balcony for you smokers. Breakfast is so so. Staff is friendly and very helpful. Its right beside the train station but a bit of a walk to the shopping areas and the Ponte Vechio. I highly... More

During our honeymoon, my husband and I spent a couple of days in Florence at the Ambasciatori hotel. The day of our check out, we could not open the safety box were we kept our passports and some cash. Someone from the front desk came to unblock it, and then we realize, 150 USD were taken from the safety box.... More

We traveled extensively, this hotel was the nosiest we ever came across on the globe: There is music from a bar until midnight, that can be heard throughout the hotel through the ventilation system. At 04:00 am people are starting to leave for the airport, producing noise when shifting chairs or moving suitcases. The maids start at 06.30 am to... More

Lovely hotel - large comfy and modern room - with most things catered for (some milk for the tea would have been nice!) Asked for some at reception and was told sorry we don't provide milk - It's just the English that have it, Italians don't? There's a supermarket round the corner if you want some?? To be fair that... We stayed here for 5 nights and below are brief thoughts - Rooms were tiny - Mattress was not good quality and king bed had two twins that kept on separating - Walls are very thin and you could hear people next to you. - Across from train station and opening window, day or night, is not an option as... Checked in greeted by very friendly and enthusiastic staff. Room was a major disappointment. Problems with the a/c and shower had half a door and water leaked all over the floor. Breakfast was ok. Location great but views not.

With my credit card rejected by a local vendor and no international cell phone, I had to use the room phone. I tried to dial 0 for an outside line and then the country code, but always got an operator with whom I was not able to explain what I needed. I had no clue if it was a hotel... More

Situated right at the main commuter Rail Station this hotel is in walking distance of many of the city's attractions including the Cathedral, various Piazzas, River Bridge and markets, and shopping to meet any need. The rooms are well appointed and comfortable, and staff very helpful.

This hotel was a huge disappointment. They don't have a restaurant, they have no room service and they don't even have a bar, although they claim they have all three. Want something to eat or drink without getting mugged? Forget about it. The hotel is in a dicey, dirty part of town. They sell people on being near the train... More

We stayed here for one night the hotel is in a good location, was clean & modern, also had a good parking services for cars but was quite expensive €32 for 24 hours. Would definitely stay here again and would recommend.

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
