Florence is such a beautiful city, rich with history....but you probably don't want your hotel room to look like it's decor hasn't changed in the last 100 years. Incredibly outdated, and pretty dirty make this hotel a no go. Not to mention the shower flooded so much that it came into the room!! The room was also filled with Mosquitos,...

Super budget hotel. Can't decide if it's worth 1 or 2 stars. Let start with the lobby, toilets didn't flush, upholstery on sofa's with cheap microfiber absorbing all the perspiration from the loads of visitors on a humid summer day. Extremely tiny elevator resulting in long lines or hauling all of the luggage up a couple of flights of stairs....

The hotel is located close to the railway station and public transport, restaurants and places of interest, we stayed for 3 nights close to hop on hop off bus stop as well. Staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms average but our room had a great view over the surrounding suburbs very rustic.

The Byron is very close to Santa Maria Novella station and is easy to find. We arrived there before 12 noon and were pleasantly surprised to get a room right away. The staff at the reception were not overly friendly, but the chack in was quick and we went searching for our room on the second floor, 209, if I...

Had the worse experience dealing with these people. Booke 6 days accomodation through my Travel Agent in Austalia some 5 months ago. All went well until arrival. We were told that the room booked had water pipe problems and a room had been organised at another hotel. Fine until we saw our room, a match box room made up. We...

The reason this is version 2 is explained below. My daughter stayed at the Byron last summer during a university-sponsored Study Abroad trip with a group of 14 other college students, and she and I are writing this review together. Thievery started even before getting into their rooms. After an early arrival, the group’s bags were stored in the hotel’s...

Two things good about this hotel is the location and their free breakfast buffet. The staff are very accommodating, we came in with no reservation and they gladly book us a room. The room, I should say is more like renting an apartment. overall, if you are a budget travelller, who needs a room to stay and don't care about...

Can't believe this is a 3 star hotel after some of other hotels we stayed in in Italy! Room spacious but very out dated! Wifi that was free did not work, don't think it ever does! Pictures on web defnitely not what you get! Lucily we booked 1 room with our kids, wouldn't let them sleep on their own their,...

Bed is like sleeping on rocks. Shower barely works aswell as being riddled with mould.. Breakfast was shocking and the staff were rude and gave terrible service. Only good thing was it is close to the station.

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
