A nice place to call home for three days while visiting Florence. Very fine accommodation, met our requirement for relative quiet and access to a substantial and healthy breakfast. And it is only about 5 minutes walk to the Duomo. The Monna Lisa offers decor that is tastefully historic, elegant and somewhat eclectic.

What a great little find for my first visit to Florence. Even the friends I was visiting had never heard of it, but they agreed I'd done quite well to find the Monna Lisa at €79/night B&B. I really felt like I stepped back in time - the walls were covered in paintings, pottery, and antiques...almost cluttered but not. I...

This is a very nice hotel in the heart of Florence and all the major attractions are within easy walking distance. Our room had a very comfy bed and was nicely furnished, with a balcony overlooking the garden. The garden itself is very pretty and surprisingly quiet, a lovely place to relax and be served drinks. The only drawback with...

Florence hotel located in the center keeps intact the appearance of an ancient Florentine residence. I was glad to be surrounded by paintings, frescoes and sculptures from the Renaissance. Reception staff is friendly but it is not enough to feel good in September when nights are cold and heating system off yet...

This is a very well located hotel within easy walking distance of most of the main tourist destinations. The hotel, or at least part of it dates back to the 13th century and was probably a convent. We had a good sized room with a comfortable bed with was kept spotlessly clean. The staff on reception were always helpful and...

This hotel couldn't be in a better location. Lovely old building. Beautiful gardens and relaxing rooftop solarium. Breakfast was wonderful. Rooms had some type of air freshener that really had a too sweet smell. We asked to change rooms, but the other room smelled the same. Just opened the window at night.

They deserve a BIG ZERO!!!! We booked two rooms for a three night stay at the Hotel Monna Lisa from 5/17 - 5/19/2016. We had stayed at this hotel eight years ago and loved it, so we were looking forward to returning. We had room numbers 41 and 42. Do not stay in these rooms they had a funky sewerage...

The room was small but sufficient. Beds were very hard but the balcony overlooking the garden was very nice. Breakfasts included but nothing fantastic. Overall, a clean friendly atmosphere. The staff was helpful and spoke English, interesting history of the property which was over 500 years old!

This hotel was formerly a Renaissance palazzo and is situated in a quiet side street just minutes from the famous Duomo in the main square. You walk through a large doorway and looking up, see painted ceiling panels c.1600 swirling with heraldic arabesques and decorations gone berserk. The hotel staff are friendly and speak fluent English, which is helpful. My...

I just needed to reiterate how incredible this hotel is. Smack bang in the centre of Firenze, no more than 15 mins walk from any of the excellent sites, galleries and piazzas. Hotel - 10 out of 10, Staff 10 out of 10, location 10 out of 10, Breakfast 10 out of 10, Room 10 out of 10, Decoration 10...

Staying in Duomo

Neighbourhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
