We recently stayed for 3 nights and overall have no complaints about this hotel. There were a couple of things that I would mention. The room was plenty big enough and the bed was huge and very comfortable but the window didn't offer hardly any natural light. Also if your wife relies on hair straighteners there is no mirror anywhere near a plug. The breakfast was OK but the scrambled egg was not great and I couldn't eat it. I asked if I could have a fried egg but was told that as they do scrambled egg and "cold boiled eggs then I would have to pay 6 euros for fried egg. The bacon and sausage weren't good either. Having said that there was plenty of other things to eat so no chance of going hungry. I think the staff deserve a special mention, they were lovely

This hotel is perfectly situated near the SMN rail station and to other Firenze must sees and experience. Reception was warm and welcoming. We had a late dinner in the restaurant after a day long trip to Cinque Terre and the dinner was reasonably priced and enjoyable.

This hotel is very close to the train station.
It features antique furniture pieces with plenty of drawers, very convenient to organize during a stay. The breakfast features a best selection for a hotel at this price range.

We've spent there 4 nights, suting holidays at the beginning of January. Excellent location, especially if you arrive by train, walking distance from the city center historical buildings, museums and attractions.
the room was stylish and spacious, with marble bathroom and fresh fruit on arrival.
Kind personnel, good manner and apparently attentive service, but... the heating was not capable to heat the bathroom and water for shower was not warm enough. Complained about this the first moring leaving the hotel, I've been promised a check and eventually a portable heater to be delivered during the day. Coming back in the evening we've found nothing was changed, and also the used shower gel was not replaced. The following morning I've complained again, so that the heater appeared, the room was made up better, with feedback form, weather forecast leaflet and chocolate sweets, and I had plenty of shampoos (and still little shower gel). I felt it like ïf you do not complain, they give you basic service (or slightly less). Clearrlu the third day the service returned back to the basic level.
The breakfast was good, offering quite a wide spectrum of sweet options, and some savoury, but the service was quite slow and not always "friendly, event though I have to admit that kind guests received a kind response, where arrogant guests were treated a bit more hardly. More than understandable. anyway the overall organization of breakfast was not good: there was a not clear management of the queue to enter the dining room, and the buffet refresh was very slow. I've used the restaunt iin one of the evenings, and I have no complaint at all, quality of service and food was good. A pity for some bad smell, every now and then, probably coming from pipes, as the dining room is in the basement floor.

The hotel is a street over from the main rail station so is a 10- 15 minute walk away.
The location on Via Fiume is a fairly quiet street .The entrance to the hotel is polished brass and is staffed by a concierge who showed us to our room.
The hotel was obviously very grand and pictures adorn the walls of the many celebrity guests who have stayed there.
The rooms are very clean and comfortable and have a luxury feel about them.
The staff are friendly and pleasant and really helpful with local information on reception.
However Breakfast is chaotic and frenetic. The dining area is fairly small and it often feels like sitting in a war zone if you eat between 8.30-10.00am.
Breakfast range and choice was poor compared with other hotels i have stayed at
Items had often run out and were not replenished for quite a while .Tea and coffee was sometimes served at a tepid temperature rather than hot.
The service staff had to operate like a military unit and were commanded by a lead supervisor who barked delegated orders to several others.
Relaxing and leisurely it was not.

Whilst i feel the hotel was ok the short walk to the bottom of the street towards the shops. Bars and takeaways was a little unnerving the first couple of times as large piles of litter/cardboard boxes are just dumped there at the bottom , the area smelt strongly of urine in the heat possibly because it was also a location for a number of homeless people .
The hotel is in a good location for a lot of the sites The Duomo, san Lorenzo church and Lorenzo market (great for fresh produce) all easily walkable.

The hotel is located 5 min away from the train station and within 15 min walk to main attractions. As you come out to the left of the hotel, the area is a bit dingy and felt a little unsafe. The room was dark and uncomfortably hot so we had to keep opening the window particularly at night. Unfortunately, we ended up with mosquitos in the room and got bitten. The breakfast was ok although quite small and repetitive. On our final day we had to catch an early train to the airport. At 5.30am I went to the reception to ask for some coffee sachets as there were none in our room. The receptionist gave me a weird look before providing one sachet of coffee. I asked if we could have some breakfast and I was told ‘no’ as they don’t open till 7am. We checked out 45min later and saw other guests picking up their takeaway breakfast bags. When I asked why we didn’t get that too, I was told that it had to be ordered a day before. I was quite disappointed and felt that guests should be made aware of this service in advance. Overall, it didn’t feel like a 4-star hotel.

The Hotel is in great location. Central, close to the station and amazing food places around; however, I was disappointed with the service received.
For the price we paid - better service would have been received in other hotels.
In the description it states that an iron is available, this is not true. You can get an iron on loan but I’m Sundays this is not available at all. We had to attend a wedding on Sunday and we’re unable to iron our clothes - one staff in particular at the reception was not help at all. He simply did not understand customet service.

We stayed in level 1 and for 4 days kept getting told that the internet will get fixed. 4 days without WiFi and poor reception service so I couldn’t even use my own data.

The air conditioner was not working in 40 degrees temperature.

I kept asking for this to be fixed and an update when it will be fixed but nothing.

Other staff members were lovely but it’s a shame that my stay in this hotel has left a bitter taste.

Personally, for the same price you can get a better hotel with better service than here.

Dear Andrea,

In response to this pathetic message you sent to address my concerns of the hotel I would like to say it confirms my issues with Albani Hotel now even more. Instead of taking ownership of my concerns professionally, you decided to double and triple down your position by mocking me for an “anonymous review”. Let it be known that every issue I addressed was done so directly with Lorenzo at the front desk along with many other staff members. Do t you dare think you can sweep this under the rug and think I’m going to go quietly. My next step is the credit card company. And I have proof of all my concerns to show them it’s all true and accurate. For now I’ll post the error I got repeatedly when trying to access internet. And the other pic is your front desk showing me a private link for access to the wifi they use for events. They didn’t get that to work either (shocker)

Dear nicksJ7731QT,
we are sorry that you didn't enjoy your stay at our hotel, but it's too easy to write negative anonymous comments without context.
Our staff IS NOT rude and our front desk staff gives an excellent concierge service!
The daily buffet breakfast offers cold and hot dishes, with a large variety of choice.
The free Wi-Fi works perfectly in every part of the hotel.
On our Room Service menu is clearly notet that ther is a charge of € 5,00 for room service and if you ask ice to be delivered in your room we apply the room service charge.
Best regards.

Dear nicksJ7731QT, Thank you for message. Please be assured, we don't want to sweep anything under the rug. You have the right to express your opinions, and we certainly won't ever try to stop you from doing so, but we also have the right to express our opinions and, politely, even challenge your opinions too. It appears the main issue was the inability to access our Wi-Fi, but there could have been a number of reasons and our staff have tried to help you resolve the issue, we apologize if we were unable to do so. Kind regards. Andrea Vagniluca General Manager Hotel Albani Firenze

While the rooms were comfortable and adequate this does not rate as a 4 star hotel in my book. Our room was not cleaned until 17:00 and this is after we asked the maid in the hall to please clean at 14:30, waited until 16:00 and it was still not done until another hour after we complained to the front desk! That in addition to basically non existent Wi-Fi. Even in the lobby it hardly kept a strong enough signal to be useful. Breakfast was ok, but service was poor. Ordered coffee and tea each morning but only one or the other showed up. Even shared our coffee the morning we got it with another guest because they didn’t get any. I would not recommend staying here.

Thank you for taking the time to write your review. All our rooms are cleaned in the morning, but if the maid finds a "do not disturb sign" out a door she doesn't disturb and wait until the guest asks to clean his room. We are working to fix the wifi, we discover that some hotspots are not working properly and we are replacing them. Best regards.

The hotel is centrally located within walking distance from the Santa Maria Novella station, the San Lorenzo Market, Mercato Centrale etc. The room was nice, old but spacious. On the eve of our departure, we went to the reception and ask if we could borrow an iron as I had to iron a shirt. We were surprised when the lady at the reception desk told us that we need to deposit 50 Euro to get the iron. We refused to pay. I understand that the hotel has laundry and ironing services, but we just needed the iron for ironing 1 shirt. For a four star hotel we were quite disappointed.

Dear Sweettraveler25, Thank you for your review. As you indicated, our hotel offers a laundry and ironing service, exceptionally we have some vertical steam irons to lend to our guests and we ask for a refundable deposit of €50.00 for any damages. unfortunately in the past several uncaring customers have returned us damaged and no longer usable irons, denying having broken them and not wanting to compensate for the damage. Since this is an additional service to what we normally offer, we ask for a form of guarantee. Best regards. Andrea Vagniluca General Manger Hotel Albani Firenze

Yes there are elevators. There wasn’t a/c on because they shut it off after summer. We were there in October and it was quite comfortable. Don’t think there was a porter. It’s a small boutique hotel. Very clean and great location.

Is there parking at hotel? Thinking of renting a car while there. Also, is there a fee for parking?
Answer from Tina A

Sorry for the late response parking was costly and not at the hotel so we decided cabs were easier and cheaper.. worked out okay... also the streets are narrow and have lots of road closures... However, if your going to the Tuscan countryside might have to just pay for parking....
