We stayed 2 nights as part of our tour package. We loved the room we had on the 5th floor. The room was small, to be expected in Italy, and we loved that it was small. We were not spending lots of time in our room, just sleeping, changing clothes, the basics, However, we had a small balcony overlooking the...

The hotel is very well located but unfortunately it is being renovated while guests are sleeping. Not even a good 3 stars hotel. The staff is friendly but right now the hotel is not worth the value...

The rooms are very tiny even for one person much less for two. There was not even room to open 1 large suite case much less if you had 2 to open. The bathrooms are the size of 2 phone booths and you could not shower with the shower doors closed because the shower was so small and water leaked...

I stayed at this hotel three nights in Oct.I loved its relaxed atmosphere. We were in adouble room overlooking the inside court where there is a little swimming pool. All the Florence highlights where within walking distance and is is walking distance from the Santa Maria Novella Station.Air conditioning was working well and the staff were very helpful and friendly.

I thought the one at Italy Roma is bad enough but this hotel really make it to the top list of the worst hotel ever stayed in. I am really glad that we are only staying in this hotel for a night. I thought this is a 3stars hotel (because our tour is mainly of 4 stars hotels in city...

This building used to be a monastery and the rooms reflect that image. The mattresses were poor and the room was very noisy compared to other street front rooms we stayed at in Italy. The breakfast was good. If you were there in summer, I suppose you'd appreciate the pool (the air conditioning doesn't work anywhere). It was centrally located...

Looks are deceiving... and Croce di Malta Hotel definitely proves it right! The hotel lobby and restuarant areas look great. While it's not like a top notched hotel, it's clean and modern. That's the only thing great about it. Other than that, it's a nightmare staying in this hotel. The moment you entered the guest rooms area, it looks as...

Pros: - Excellent, central position. - Rather clean. - Adequate staff. Cons: - WiFi network is paid for, not part of larger networks, and won't reach all rooms. - Noisy street (as many others here) - Mediocre breakfast with the worst orange juice I've ever had (almost had to throw up!)

We stayed for 5 nights at this hotel, with my partner, son in law, daughter and grandson aged 3. We had been to 2 hotels before this one, and managed to book it last minute. it was so convenient for everything, the staff were extremely helpful, and our rooms good. Most people went sight seeing during the day and as...

This hotel is central and affordable and has a lovely courtyard with a small swimming pool. The rooms facing the courtyard, some with balconies, are lovely. If you don't get one of these, I advise you not to stay there. This is a four star hotel... I struggle with that rating. While the decor in the foyer is good, the...

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
