Breakfast was nothing but very average and definately NOT worth the 36 Euros each! I would recommend going to one of the many cafes nearby. We had sleepless nights as apparently the hotel didnt count on having 23 degrees heat and switch all air- conditioning off as its October ! We had to sleep with balcony doors open as we...

Train travel has its good points - the scenery down the Brenner Pass, for example - but it can also be pretty gruelling wrestling with baggage, trying to find the correct Italian platform, wondering if Car 1 is act the front or the bag of a long train etc .... Arriving in Florence after all of that, we arrived at...

Altho not directly in the center, it is within walking distance of all primary tourist sites. The accommodations and service were lovely-excellent. The restaurant good but not extraordinary. The price fair for Florence. We would choose it again.

We stayed for three nights in a lovely, elegant room that seemed like it had been recently redone. The bathroom was the most spacious of any hotel we stayed at in Italy and was super modern in style. We had the breakfast buffet each morning in the elegant dining room and the staff was extremely attentive. We would be happy...

This hotel has a beautiful lobby and beautiful rooms, but when we arrived we were not told we would be charged extra for breakfast. We traveled throughout Italy and Sicily for three weeks and this is the only hotel that charged for breakfast. 36 euros!!! a TOTAL ripoff. As I bring power bars when I travel and have one of...

Just spent 3 nights at this wonderful hotel with my four sisters. The rooms are large with beautiful bathrooms, comfy beds, and high end linens. The staff is wonderful - helpful, kind and understanding of American tourists needs. Breakfast is served in their beautiful greenhouse and our wonderful waiter Daniel was always ready to deliver another cappuccino. In the evening...

My type of hotel. The history is present but with modern touch. Rooms are big, clean and quiet. It takes 10 to 15 mins to the famous attractions by walk. But hotel has shuttle if you do not like to walk. At the restaurant terrace the athmosphere is very stylish but relaxed. For Good service I have to mention Ms...

We stayed here for four nights with breakfast included. The beds were VERY comfortable, we slept really well. The bathroom was adequate - bit of a leaky shower that needed mopping up with bathmat or towels (of which plenty were provided)! The buffet breakfast was fine - lots of choice, including some hot food too. My husband enjoyed using the...

My family and I stayed here while on vacation in Italy and we were pleased with the hotel, but I would not consider it a 5-star hotel. Cons: The beds were very firm, and when we asked if there was anything that could be done we had a small, thin duvet placed over the mattress. When I asked for one...

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
