I am writing this review at nearly 1 am as I would like to highlight my stay at Helvetia and Bristol at Florence. I checked into the hotel at about 7.30-7.40 pm after a 6 hour drive from Positano. I was allotted a room no #155 on the 1st floor by the reception. As soon as I checked in I...

We stayed here for a few days and we really enjoyed it. The hotel is really nice, not modern but completely in "Florence"style. Room was big enough, comfortable bed and nice bathroom. People at the reception and at breakfast were kind and helpful. The hotel is in the centre of the city so perfectly located. Our room was facing the...

This friendly compact hotel is situated only a stone's throw from the Duomo and is perfectly located being in easy walking distance from all other places of interest. It is only a few minutes walk from the Ponte Vecchia and Uffizi museum and about 10 minutes from the Accadamea museum. The staff are all friendly and helpful. We did not...

The hotel is ideally situated in the centre of Florence and yet amazingly quiet and tranquil - it is a small hotel but in no way lacking in amenites - all of the staff were so friendly and helpful - never too busy to offer advice to the traveller - the hotel was always very clean and tidy, the room...

Excellent service, great atmosphere, attention to all details. It's always nice to receive a handwritten welcome letter from the General Manager. Very good breakfast. Perfectly placed at the central point of the city's historical ventre. Next time I will be back here, COMPLIMENTI

We stayed here for 3 nights on our recent trip to Florence. The location is excellent, within easy walking distance of the station and of most of the major sights. However, the central location and the historic nature of the building (old windows, no double glazing) led to quite a bit of street noise if in a bedroom facing the...

I booked this hotel as part of a BA holiday and was slightly worried I'd made the wrong choice after reading some of the recent reviews. Couldn't have been more wrong, it was fabulous from the time I arrived to leaving. it's a traditional historic building, so I can understand if ultra modern is your style it may not appeal...

My wife and I have enjoyed this hotel for the past three nights. Spacious room, excellent service and staff, wonderful breakfasts and knowledgeable and extremely helpful concierge. Easy walking distance to all of the historic sites in downtown Florence. Highly recommended for hotels in it's price range.

I stayed here for 3 nights, after a trip to Venice, and before Rome. The room was beautiful, tidy, and the bathroom was wonderful. The service was impeccable, whether they had to break into my safe, or send a number of bottle of Olive Oil and Wine home to friends on the states. The staff was incredibly kind and ready...

I can't see how anyone would think that this hotel is nice. The rooms are absolutely horrendous! It needs a ton of renovation starting with the carpet. Old ugly green and dirty! Wear your shoes! Non existent wifi. So spotty that you can never depend on it. Good location but that is it. Would never recommend.

Staying in Duomo

Neighbourhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
