Stunning room. The lighting, the mirrors, the fabrics were all gorgeous. They also had water for me every day and this gorgeous new Missoni blanket draped on the bed. I also highly recommend visiting the Missoni shop not too far from the hotel. The staff is lovely and so helpful there as well.

Hotel Calimala is situated in the heart of the historic center of Florence, occupying two adjacent historic buildings, the East and the West. We offer a range of room categories, spanning from 16 sqm superior rooms to spacious 50 sqm executive suites. Renovations led by designer Alex Meitlis involved the use of authentic materials such as pietra serena and Tuscan marble, along with contemporary furniture, to leave the Florentine soul of the building intact. The rooms and common areas are characterized by high quality prints and masterpieces by international talents: a true compendium of contemporary art, in which you will immerse yourself in every moment of your day in Florence! The hotel also has two restaurants: Meze, which is in the west wing, offers a special Mediterranean sea cuisine experience that our chef has reinvented. A stunning perspective of Florence's City and a Mediterranean-style cooking are paired together at Angel RooftopBar&Dining in the East wing.

We wanted to be in a central area and this hotel did not disappoint. This is a building in the heart of the city, typical to most European hotels, the rooms are not huge, but all are extremely well done. I stayed in the standard room, the Junior suite and the Comfort room. I would definitely recommend the comfort room and Junior Suite as they gave just enough extra room to accommodate my need for a workspace and to manage devices. The basic room is very nice, I just wanted a little extra room.
Florence is a busy city, so if you sleep with the windows open, you will hear street noise, but then again, you're downtown. I believe they have rooms that face a courtyard and they may be quieter. In any event, it's a great place to stay, the breakfast offered in the morning is very decent and all of the staff were extremely nice.
The hotel is located in 2 buildings. When you get there they will tell you whether you are in the East or West location as they are essentially across the street from each other. There are breakfast options at both locations.
Also, there is an open air building nearby that houses a bout 40 vendors during the day, but at night when it is empty, there are impromptu performances by musicians that are amazing.
Its great hotel and i would stay there again gladly.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact me!

I visited Hotel Calimala during Sept 2020 whilst some of the CV19 restrictions were in force. From the outset, the staff made me feel very welcome and entirely comfortable that my safety was their primary concern. The hotel is perfectly placed in the centre of town close to both the main square (Piazza della Repubblica) and the Ponte Vecchio, the famous covered bridge. Despite being close to all amenities and attractions, the hotel is quiet and tranquil. The multi-lingual staff were polite and attentive, and ensured that my room was ready even though I was checking in earlier than expected. My room (314) was everything that I had read about and seen online - spacious, double height ceiling, good quality finishes, a large bathroom, clean and had a very stylish decor. The air conditioning was most welcome given the high temperatures, and the large windows came with both internal and external shutters. WiFi was great and the tv gave access to a multitude of international channels. Two bottles of water were replenished daily in the fridge, as were the pods in the coffee machine. Breakfast was taken in the beautiful roof terrace, which has perfect views over the city - a truly stunning location (see photos). Given the restrictions, breakfast consisted of bread, cheese, pastries, fruit, juice and yoghurt served in a stylish wine crate with each item individually wrapped.
In summary, I had an excellent stay at a truly wonderful hotel, whose staff did everything possible to make me feel comfortable and safe. I would not hesitate to recommend it for anyone seeking a memorable stay in this beautiful city. I look forward to returning soon.

We booked this hotel at the very last minute after and AirBnB fail. They could not have been more accommodating (especially Jessica) and actually offered us a slight discount while booking directly through them! (of note!!). The hotel is an old Palazzo that has been lovingly modernized, renovated, and redesigned. The design is so chic. I absolutely loved every detail of the bathroom tiling and the bedroom, with its giant plush furniture and colorful accents. The staff was incredibly helpful and booked our dinner reservation at a nearby restaurant when we had trouble contacting them. Though we did not use it, the hotel has a nice gym and also a great rooftop called Angel. There are amazing views! Lastly, the location is perfect- on the same street as Ponte Vecchio, next to the Mercato Nuovo, Piazza della Signoria and within a few minutes from the Duomo. Highly recommend!

The Hotel Calimala and all of its staff (Lavinia, Daniele, Tiziano, Mattia and Jessica) is one of the best experiences I have had as far as hotel stays and I have traveled around the world! The location is right in city center and as a planned solo female traveler, it was important for me to find somewhere that would feel safe, clean, comfortable, and cozy. This boutique hotel is glamorous, cozy, intimate yet still maintains excellent privacy and anonymity due to the layout. It felt like an upscale Italian flat. The rooftop bar was home to beautiful sunsets overlooking all of Firenze with a glass of wine (or whatever drink you prefer) every night! I chose to include the breakfast with my stay which was BEAUTIFULLY made daily. I am also a vegetarian and there was endless options to choose from the grand buffet style (italian cheeses, vegetable quiche, fruit, vegetables, croissants, pastries, nutella, fruit spread, prosecco, make your own bloody mary's). The staff here are all exceptionally professional, kind, helpful and take the extra step to help you plan your day if you need any ideas or recommendations. They offered their help and thoughts any time we would ask them and they would initiate calling the restaurants, wine tours, drivers, etc we were interested in. We were honestly blown away by their level of professionalism and kindness. I would most definitely recommend this hotel to anyone coming to Firenze. The cleanliness, location, ease of travel and stay are beyond exceptional.

Stayed hear with my girlfriend over Valentines weekend (by chance not design) neither of us had been to Florence before and didn’t appreciate how good the location of this hotel was, 100m to Duomo, Piazza Della Signoria and much more, everything else is within comfortable waking distance.
All staff were very friendly and happy to help, even with our broken Italian.
We went out for dinner to Piazzale Michelangelo for a very expensive and pretty average meal, the next day we hit up the hotel restaurant, it was on another level...the pork and Tuna Tataki 👌 also the buffet breakfast is one of the best I’ve encountered.
The room: bed was Comfy, Shower exceptional and even the TV even had some Sky Cinema and Sky sports channels.
They’ve also partnered up with a garage which was very handy, but I’d suggest getting the train to Florence, you’ll save money on the garage and rental.
As for Florence, what a beautiful city, will definitely be heading back.

Grazie arrivederci

The Location
The Hotel Calimala is located at 2 Via Calimala in Florence in the heart of the historic district. If you walk out the door and turn right you are within five minutes to the Duomo. If you walk out the door and turn left you are five minutes from the Ponte Vecchio. And if you go 10 minutes beyond the Duomo you will reach the Galleria dell’Accademia where the statue of David resides. So you could not ask for a more centrally located hotel for taking in the sties of Florence.

The Building
Hotel Calimala is a wonderful Four Star hotel with 42 rooms that was converted from an old office building to a hotel in approximately 2019. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic it closed immediately for a year and just recently re-opened about a year ago. The lobby is small but functional. The décor is done in a modern Italian style, which is both beautiful and functional. We had a corner room (#306) with two exposures that was approximately 400sf. The bathroom had a good sized walk-in shower (not a tub/shower combo) which we always prefer. The bathroom also had heated towel bars, which was nice in February. The bed was comfortable and the bedding above average. The lighting was more than sufficient in both bedroom and bathroom. And the heat (we were there in February) was good. There are several passenger elevators.

The Food
We had breakfast both mornings. Due to Covid restrictions there is no buffet that you would normally see. The waiter basically brings coffee or tea, a plate of pastries and one can also order eggs and bacon.
There is a roof top restaurant and lounge, but it is still closed.

The Staff
The front desk staff was wonderful, looked like they were sent over from central casting, and spoke fluent English. Tiziano was particularly helpful in arranging restaurant reservations. The daily maid service was also good.

In summary, one could not ask for a better situated, well maintained, expertly managed hotel in the heart of Florence. We would definitely stay there again.

We stayed 5 nights at the Hotel Calimala for our visit to Florence. The hotel in perfectly located in walking distance to all major sights, no more than 4 minutes walk from Santa Maria del Fiore. The rooms are beautifully designed, the windows are completely sound proof and equipped with a Nespresso coffee machine and capsules.
The staff are great! Tomy and Daniel were very welcoming, helped us to reserve tables at local restaurants, always with a smile. Thank you guys.
Also, the breakfast staff gets a thumbs up for handling the ‘new normal’ without an open buffet.

Had a short trip to Florence, first time. Not sure how I found Hotel Calimala out of all the options but I am glad I did. The location is excellent, of course - a couple of minutes in walking from everything you might want to see in Florence but also from the UNITA tram station (airport tram). The rooms are super duper nice and clean and they come with some nice design details, as visible in public photos. Just an example: all metal appliances in the room are golden hue or brass. But the bathroom door has a golden handle on the room side and a chrome/silver finish on the bathroom side, to match the tones in the bathroom. I found that very thoughtful. Aside from design, pluses go to the Internet (great speed), the staff (I think we were greeted by Daniele who is charming) and even the hotel’s website for recommendations (check the “three days in Firenze” tab). Happy with the choice, would definitely come back and recommend it to anyone traveling to Florence. PS - check the rooftop terrace ;)

We have stayed here for 5 nights and have thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It started with a warm welcome at the reception, a very good service with parking the car and it felt really nice to arrive at such a nice hotel room.
The decoration of the room and bathroom was superb. No cheap material was used. The location of the hotel is top. Right in the middle of all the sights.
The only down side was that we found the hotel very difficult to reach by car. It was a nightmare! whereas to drive out of town was easy!

My boyfriend and I booked our summer vacation in Florence at the Calimala hotel and we were nervous about the covid-19 situation. As soon we arrived to the hotel we were amazed by the caring of the staff, the cleanliness of the room and all shared areas, the hotel made us feel super safe. Due to the covid, the breakfast is served in a box to the room or to their AMAZING terrace and the food is delicious and in a very high level!!
The c/in and c/out process was very fast and efficient!
The location is superb, right in the center of the city, 2 minutes walk to both, the duomo and the ponte vecchio.
On the first night we booked dinner at the hotel restaurant (Angel) which is on the rooftop of the hotel- the view is breathtaking!! They have panoramic view of the entire city! The food was absolutely amazing and the service is on point.
The hotel has also a professional concierge that gave us amazing recommendations on restaurants and places to see!
I would like to mention the hotel manager that made us feel like vip- Angela, she was super caring and she helped us with everything we needed!
If I could have give more than 5 stars I would have definitely rate them higher, we had the most amazing vacations and a lot of it is thanks to the hotel!
