Caveat: We got upgraded to room 8, which seems to be the deluxe room which is spacious, has a sofa, an armchair, a big bathroom with shower, separate bathtub and bidet next to the toilet bowl. Seems like the other rooms might be a lot smaller so the experience will be different. Bad points (out of the way first): -...

We thoroughly enjoyed staying at Floroom 2! We arrived a bit earlier than we had advised them so ran into a little glitch on arrival which was quickly solved. It led us to discover Osteria Belle Donna on the next street which was a delicious, authentic resto for lunch. Joel checked us in and both he and Irene were perfect...

This lovely 4 bedroom Bed and Breakfast was absolutely delightful. Really centrally located - we could walk to most places in less than 10/15minutes and it is less than 5 minutes walk from the main Santa Novella train station. The whole place was lovely and clean and we absolutely loved the decor - very modern yet chic. There was one...

The B&B is in the centre of Florence close to all the main attractions, lovely trattorias around. Being in the centre it is a bit noisy with all the motor bikes and cars. We had room 8. It was nice, well appointed. Albeit for the thin towels that were supplied. You would think hen paying in town prices the towels...

This upmarket B&B is in a fantastic location in Florence being near the train station and all the sights but for €200 a night I expected at least to feel comfortable. Room 5 was small, which is not necessarily a problem but with a bathroom laid out in a wardrobe/sliderobe space with toilet on the left (1.5 ft from the...

Stayed last summer and thought this place was very cool. Its all about location, its no more than 10 mins walk from everything in Florence, in fact most of the big attractions are 5 mins away tops. This makes it a perfect base that you can pop back to for a free coffee, coke or biscotti to collect your thoughts...

Great little hotel! Feels like you are in somebody's apartment (somebody with great design taste). A kitchen and living room which you can use and where you can hang out. Rooms are small (actually tiny) but its very clean, friendly and top modern design. Also, in a city where hotel living is very expensive this is a great value for...

Good location in the centre of Florence, easy to find from SM Novella train station. Accommodation was very good, clean, modern, air-con, coffee & pastries. Very attentive house-keeper chap who booked us in and arranged the breakfast each day. Entry to the front door, apartment and your room is all via a secure code so do make sure you have...

A very modern simplistic b&b in a great location in Florence. Includes a continental breakfast, free snacks and drinks, wifi and helpful service. Note no on site parking but it's just around the corner. Don't drive around anyway, it's easy walking to most sights. Would definately stay again but get the superior room as the studio is a little small,...

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.

“We had room #8 and it was very spacious and comfortable. The bed in particular was very comfortable. This hotel would not be ideal for those with mobility issues as there is no elevator. This was not an issue for us.”
