10 min walk from SMN station. Right in the center of the Piazza in Santa Maria Novella. Fabulous for an after dinner walk and gellato. The first room we were given was no more than the bed . No wardrobes or any space to keep you luggage. Barely space for 1person to stand in the room outside of the bed....

My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Rosso23 for two nights and loved the hotel! The accommodations were modern, clean and comfortable. We had a standard double room on the third floor with a view of the Duomo out our window. Buffet breakfast was excellent as was the coffee! Front desk staff was extremely helpful in assisting us with...

My sister came to Florence in September and suggested this hotel to us. This hotel is okay. The service is great as they are very helpful. But the room is very small and awkward. The bed is comfortable and the semi clean. It is very expensive for the price we get. But very close to train station and market. Breakfast...

We actually really enjoyed our stay in Florence, though the hotel would definitely not be the highlight of our time there. The location is fantastic, especially if you are traveling to Florence by train. Rooms were on the small side, and the shower is TINY! I'm pretty petite (5'4"), but even I felt a little uncomfortable in that shower. Also,...

We booked a superior double room overlokking the piazza. We had room 114 on the first fllor which was enormous and had a balcony. Highly recommended , 115 would be the same. Our friend had a room overlooking the light well and she was very satisfied. Be aware some web sites have confusing room descriptions, double check superior is overlooking...

Only a 5 minute walk from the train station so this is very convenient. Nice décor in the hotel and rooms but the rooms are quite dim. Breakfast is great with good selection for everyone. The beds were the most comfortable for our entire trip and the pillows are medium fluffy and not that flat. The shower stall was incredibly...

We booked this Hotel through expedia, The room we thought we had booked was superior double with french bed. When we checked in and shown to the room it was a small single room with a double bed. Our friends had a large room overlooking the Square which was lovely. My husband complained at the reception and was told that...

My bf and I stayed there last September. The hotel is in a good location if traveling by train, very close to the train station, also suited in a peaceful piazza. There's also some very good restaurants near by (must try Trattoria Sostanza and Il Latini), and easy walk to all attractions. We stayed in a superior room for 3...

I was lucky to come across this gem via agoda.com and booked based on the reviews on this site. My wife and I were bracing ourselves for disappointment, thinking that the photos would not be like on the website, but were pleasantly proven wrong. The hotel is located very close to the train station(5-10 minutes walk) and like previous reviews,...

The hotel is clean and chic and close to main spots in Florence. The room is comfortable and spacious. Breakfast is delicious and has lots options. The biggest drawback is staffs, they are unfriendly and impolite. I am not sure what bothers them that they barely smile and show more hospitality. Three of four staffs in the reception desk never...

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
