We stayed in the room with a private bath and it was great! It was very spacious and well equipped with everything we could need. We had planned to do laundry and came back one day to find it all clean and hanging outside to dry. Carla is the best! She and her family made us feel welcome and could...

Having read all the previous glowing reviews regarding Carla and her bed and breakfast we were obviously very eager to make a booking for our forthcoming visit to Florence in June 2014. However after emailing Carla twice the first time around 3 weeks ago we then followed with a second email 2 weeks later we are still awaiting any reply...

Stayed here in September. Had a great time. Everyone was very friendly and had great suggestions of places to go and see. A little walk to the main areas (10 minutes) but a nice walk. Sometimes a little noisy but didn't bother us.

Many travelers come to Florence to enjoy its past.... the works of famous artists and inventors in museums. They even come to pick up leather goods, which unfortunately, have lost their Florentine identity of quality pressed leather craftsmanship. What many are missing out is its present... the Tuscan and Florentine way of life. How the locals enjoy fresh olive oil,...

Prior to booking our stay at B&B Leonardo da Vinci, we read a few reviews that mentioned how Carla - the owner - is the true Italian mama; we had no idea how true that was! Upon our arrival she showed us to our room, gave us a map with suggestions on where to go, then fed us some delicious...

What a traveller wants from a holiday? An experience! We stayed 5 nights with B&B Leonardo da Vinci, we were thrilled by Carla's hospitality. What a lovely host who look after us for every single aspect. Carla has definitely exceeded my expectation to be a B&B operator, she treats us like friends and family. I have to thank Carla personally...

Where do I begin? I wanted to try a B&B for my Italy trip and found a gem in Florence with this wonderful place! Carla is the genuine thing! Her warmth and welcoming nature made me feel like I had dropped in to my aunt's house! The room was exactly as I imagined it. High ceilings, shuttered windows which looked...

Carla and her family who own this B&B are delightful hosts. The property is a couple bus stops away from the train station and within walking distance to the city center without being located in a touristy or loud neighbourhood. Only one room has an attached bathroom and the other two rooms share a common bathroom. That being said, the...

Caola is wonderful host. She has great hospitality and is great cook. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious. The room was decorated with antique furniture. You can feel like being real local here. I was so happy to stay here. Definitely will be back.

Carla and family are amazing! Although we only stayed for one night (we had arrived a day early for a prebooked trip and needed a place for the night) we were made to feel like family as soon as we arrived and our hosts were incredibly warm, welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. We had the pleasure of joining the...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The pleasant atmosphere of this residential area, a stone’s throw away from the Duomo of Florence, surprises everyone. A continuous flow of backpacking students provides the tranquil surroundings for the elderly residents who sit in Piazza San Marco to read the daily newspaper. Home to several universities, including the Academy of Fine Arts, San Marco is one of the most vibrant cultural centers in the city. A bridge connecting the modern cultural activity of Florence to its classic art, represented by the everlasting magnificence of the original David, resonates as a symbol of Florence and of Italy as a whole. Get lost in a Neoclassic world, a journey back in time through historic buildings like Spedale degli Innocenti (Hospital of the Innocents), San Marco church, Basilica della Santissima Annunziata, and natural jewels like the Botanical Gardens.
