On arrival we were greated by an extremely helpful member of staff who checked us in and directed us to our room just around the corner from the hotel. It was a large double with an en suite and large balcony with a stunning view. Beautifully decorated and wonderful staff we loved the room and didn't want to leave.

We booked this hotel as we just wanted to stay somewhere cheap but when we arrived we were suprised at how nice the place was. Our room was huge, well furnished and complete with ac and large window. Bathrooms are shared but there are so many to use (the 2 on the top floor have a great view). The location... More

I have mixed feelings about this hotel. It has the potential to be a wonderful place unfortunately it is not well maintained. No heating is during May through November and we were visiting in May and it was raining. The hotel didn't tell us this on our arrival so we turned on the heat and it just blew out cold... More

My partner and I loved staying at Hotel Garden :) The staff were super friendly and the entire hotel had a lovely feel and character. Great location as well. Was lacking some certain amenities which would would have made our stay better but on the whole, it has all you really need :) If you don't want to share a... More

This is one of the worst hotel l have ever stayed at. I have stayed at hotels around the world and this place is truly awful. I booked the room on Venere and I did not do a prepay but the hotel charged my card anyway. The rooms were small and my room had a urine smell and was so... More

This hotel was only disappointment. No elevator, bathroom outside of room and 2 for 10 rooms. The building is so old that I was always afraid to go up the stairs and they fell down. I won't say it was dirty because it wouldn't be true, but everything is so old that give the impression it's dirty. The worse were... More

Similar story as recent people. Their hotel is "undergoing construction", and so we were about a 7 minute walk away. The guy did walk us down there and was very friendly though. The beds were fine and there was a TV in the room, but the lack of working AC in July was pretty miserable. The breakfast they provide is... More

My friends and I were in Florence in August and we stayed for 03 days. The location for the hotel is great. the room has space. shower inside the room, shared toilette with the floor. Breakfast is simple. nice garden. I enjoyed my time there.

After review other comments here,I found same happened here. When we checked in, the receptionist said the room constructed, so we had to move to other hotel by ourselves without any notice claimed to be the other branch of their hotel. Thing were different once we complained to the other hotel that we paid for 3 beds n ended up... More

We arrived at 7pm to be told that they got storm the night before and that didn't have any room. they asked us to change to another hotel, 15 minutes walk away. We reserved for three but they only gave two beds with the new hotel. A number of people experienced the same things. Read the review carefully but every... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.

“If you are exiled to the "annexe" of the hotel, you will probably get a better night of sleep as it's in a quiet street, but then you have to walk back to the main hotel if you need to speak to the management, to eat the appalling breakfast and to check out.”
