We stayed in room 43 which had excellent views into the valley below as well as two bell towers nearby. They rang at 8:00am for "good morning" and 10:00 pm for "Good night." It gave us a feel of being in Cortona in the 1700's. a wonderful experience! The view from the 4th floor restaurant at breakfast was spectacular. All the staff were gracious and helpful. If/when we go back to Cortona, this is where we'll stay again.
We visited in October and had a lovely stay with Hotel Italia. The room was no frills but very clean abs comfortable. The staff was very accommodating. Morning breakfast was great with an outstanding view of Tuscany.
Hotel Italia is extremely well located. Although it is not a luxury hotel, it has all the necessary items you might need for a couple on vacation. The staff, especially Ramona, is very attentive and knowledgeable. The rooms are comfortable and as I said, have all the necessary items for a pleasant stay. The place is clean. Breakfast is adequate and the staff is very pleasant and sweet. The view from the room is worth the price of admission. Streets in Cortona are tiny and it is a challenge to drive. Parking is outside the city walls. Bring comfortable walking shoes because there is a lot of walking to do here. By the way, the sofa in the reception room is so charming. Don't miss it! We certainly recommend this hotel and will stay here again when in Cortona.
From start to finish, a great stay. From booking and receiving full and extremely helpful answers to my questions about getting to the hotel by public transport (Piazza Garibaldi if arriving by bus), to hints and tips on dining and shopping, to looking after a piece of cheese I’d bought at a previous town, the staff could not have been more warm, kind and friendly. The view from breakfast over the valley is gorgeous and the lady who checked me in was right, I did get a great view of the sunset from my quiet and peaceful room. I will definitely be back as my one night stopover was just not long enough in this delightful hilltop town.
We came to Cortona for 6 nights to relax and enjoy the city and Italian food and wine. We are members of the Molesini wine club in Cortona and they suggested the Hotel Italia based upon location and comfort. It is a reasonably priced hotel with great staff. We opted for a junior suite which costs less than a regular room at some of the fancier hotels in the area. Top floor with nice view (and an elevator). The location is perfect. Just a few steps to the center of town. Clean and comfortable with super staff. We will be back!
